because most people like to believe that they're above everything and can do whatever they want with noone else to answer to. its like a security blanket people use when they've done wrong or intend to do wrong and dont want to feel any guilt about it.

I'm not sure I'd resort to name calling on the issue. I don't think intelligence or lack thereof has any bearing on one's decision to believe in God. I've seem brilliant people believe and complete idiots believe. I've also seen brilliant people not believe and complete idiots not believe. What I think there needs to be is a mind willing to accept things beyond the normal scope of knowledge and perception. It's alot like art appreciation - some people get it and others don't.

What I can never understand is how some claim the they "know" that God doesn't exist. You can't prove a negative, (they'll always say). It's like believers in God saying the "know" God exists - they really can't "know" since that implies tangible evidence that can be repeated. Belief is a positive word, it says that you're convinced enough to follow what your mind is telling you - either based on tangible evidence, logic, emotion, or experience - but it also implies that you're open to correction. Honest people will "know" very little. Wise people will seek to "know".

Zero proof offered for a contradictory and genocidal book from 2000+ years ago in Judea!
Tons of proof discovered since then.
including Astronomy, Genetics, Biology (Evolutionary and otherwise), Physics,Chemistry.
All of this makes the existence of an "all loving" sadistic Serial Killer in the Sky unlikely!
Even if there exists a being capable of creating the world in 6 days and nights (and provide oceans of verifiable evidence to test faith), then what created Him?
You are the one who is being silly!

Knowledges? What the heck is a knowledge? I'm pretty sure that particular noun doesn't work that way. Also, I wasn't aware that candy had the mental capacity to believe or disbelieve in god. Now that you mention it, though, those gummy bears...Scientologists, all of them.

Read a book that doesn't say "Bible" on the front of it, please. Try maybe something by Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins, they can articulate it much better than I can.

Um....because we don't? And because we believe in allowing other people to believe what they want without putting them down? What gives you the right to assume that you are right and I am wrong? I think that is rather conceited and pretentious of you. Personally, I think it is rather more intelligent to use my mind to understand the world around me. If we all thought like christians, we'd all still be dying of the plague and believing that the sun revolves around the earth. So...who's the idiot?

Ah, poorly-spelled insults! Such a wonderful indication of your intelligence!

You really don't make a good argument for your religion, since you come off as an idiot while accusing everyone who doesn't believe as you do of being an idiot. But then I doubt you have the brains to understand the irony.

I believe in God, and God gave all of us free will. It would be a wonderful thing for all of us to agree, and accept God into our lives, and take Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior. However, with free will, some people have chosen not to do that. That is their choice, and only God can judge them for that. All we can do is try to spread the word in a charismatic way, and pray that people will find their path to eternal life.

Nature made the world and knowledges. People who believe in God are disproven all the time. It's called denial. So I guess that would make you the idiot.

Terrorists believed in religion/god too readily, without questioning whatever they're told.

Now look at the damage they've done.

If one has to brag that they are beautiful, smart or rich, they're probably not. If you're really smart, people would know that you are. Justifying yourself confirms that you're nowhere near smart.

Man created god in his own image, unfortunately, most of mankind has forgotten this, and now give power over themselves to a construct, they themselves made.

The true path to power lies in realizing, all gods are created equal, and that we are the ones who control them, and choose them, and without us, none of them even have any existence.

The one god came to chase out the many, because too many gods slices up the worshiper pie too much...

Hail Eris! All Hail Discordia!

A word or two, in your ear,
About the mythical God, that you fear.
Will the world, appear as it seems,
When you awake, from your dreams.
One day, the delusions will all go,
Then the truth, you will truly know.
