Jesus brought us a higher revelation of the sanctity of marriage - one man, one woman:
"Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"
"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
"Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"
Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery."
The disciples said to him, "If this is the situation between a husband and wife, it is better not to marry."
Jesus replied, "Not everyone can accept this word, but only those to whom it has been given. For some are eunuchs because they were born that way; others were made that way by men; and others have renounced marriagebecause of the kingdom of heaven. The one who can accept this should accept it." "

We now live in the dispensation of Grace and are no longer bound by the law of Moses. The only polygamous relations were those by a king and contrary to popular opinion Abraham did not have 2 wives, Sarah was his legitimate wife and Hagar was her handmaid.
We are obedient to the law of the land which regards polygamy illegal and there are laws that forbid it. However I like the following as an example as to why it is not desirable.
Serving Two Masters
A Mormon acquaintance once pushed Mark Twain into an argument on the issue of polygamy. After long and tedious expositions justifying the practice, the Mormon demanded that Twain cite any passage of scripture expressly forbidding polygamy.
"Nothing easier," Twain replied. "No man can serve two masters."
This is not an attempt on my part to denigrate Mormons.

once again, God created one man and one women in the garden (can you imagine two women sinning and trying to get adam to eat two apples??) Gen. 2:24 "for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and cleave unto his wife (not women or wives) and they will become one flesh." here the phrase is twos a couple and threes a crowd, so how can two women and one man become one. In gen.2:24 and gids version of heavenly math...1+1 =1, so then add another wife 1+1+1 = 1, so how would they become one???

good question
Because in Titus it says you should have one wife!
Actually I think having more than one wife was a cultural thing and out of necessity because the women were so unprotected and vulnerable. It was never God's perfect will. Otherise he would have made Adam and Eve and her two sisters. He did not. He set a precendence. Just because he allowed certain things by his grace does not mean it's his perfect will for man.

allowed? a lot of times God gives you chance to change and you just don't realize it. He never gave it the thumbs up. you'll notice it says "the two shall be as one flesh", not "the three".

what uz said. Which is just more evidence that mankind created religion and continues to remake it as needed whenever societal mores change.

because, let's face it, religious beliefs are dictated by society and now society is saying polygamy is wrong.
