She won't even let me go! He's been one of my good friends for a long time & is such a nice guy. We're just friends, nothing more, & we thought we could just go to homecoming together as friends. I told my mom this, & she was fine with it. Then when I mentioned that he's African American she said I couldn't even go to Homecoming, & that I hurt her pride, & that I make her sick, & she just kept yelling at me saying how dissappointed she is! She's being soooo racist! I don't know what to do, she's not even letting me go to homecoming because I want to go with a black boy, who is very nice & a gentlemen. I don't understand this I feel horrible!

Your mother is sick and you should be ashamed of her. I don't have much to say because there is not much you can say to someone like that it would probably be better to put her out of her misery as she is not meant to live in this day in age. Remind her you are only friends and if that doesn't work say you are going with someone else to get her off your back. Don't let this type of ignorance effect you no matter where you come from everybody is equal.

Honey, i don't mean to disrespect your mother but she should really be ashamed of herself. Who is she to judge you on going to a special event with someone of a different skin color, much less someone who is just a friend?? If she understood the fact that it is what's on the inside that truly counts, and we all need to accept people for their personality, and the way they react to the world and treat others, she would not be doing this to you. Luckily and thank god dear, you do......Do 2 things for me, learn from your parents mistakes so that your own children grow up to be as kind and loving as you. And 2, follow your heart and never let anyone talk you out of anything.
Best of luck,
Erik
