I have a box of Baking soda it says on it fridge -n- freezer odor absorber. Can I use it for cooking. It was in the baking aisle at the store?

Honestly,
They just put a fancier label with a few extra words on it to have an excuse to hike the price up a little. Really it's the same stuff, and in a pinch I have used it.
(not sure, next time you are at the store, compare ingredients.)

Yes, they mean baking soda if the box says that. It's just a marketing ploy to get people to buy it as the odor absorber. I put my "old" baking soda in the fridge as the odor absorber rather than throwing it away when I don't trust it to be a leavening agent for baking. After it's done in the fridge, I run it thru my garbage disposer to freshen that rather than just throwing it in my trash.

They figure with the new marketing, it might make you buy more!

Yes, you can use it for cooking (instead of baking powder). It is a "wonder product" and does clean things and absorb stains and odors too!

I always used to use it in baking but sometimes it leaves a little bit of an acidic taste to the food - so I now use baking powder instead.

Yes you can use it for cooking depending on what you are cooking. If the recipe calls for baking soda it is good to go

sure - the only problem would be using one that had been in the fridge for a long time might pass on some disagreeable odors
