There is more written historical manuscripts about the life , ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ than any other person place or thing in ancient history. There are over 5000 ancient manuscripts dating back to the first century of the biographies of Jesus (Gospels of, Maythew , Mark Luke & John) alone deemed by the experts to be 99.5 % free of errors. There 7 secular corroborating accounts of thefact that Jesus Christ was indeed a real person including the very reliable historian Josephus. Many of the historical places, dates , and occurances found in the Gospels have been confirmed by Archeology. No Gospel historical date , place or occurance has ever been proved false by Archeoplogy. This is just the tip of the iceberg. For anyone to say that Jesus is a myth is absolutely absurd. No intelligent human being doubts that Jesus Christ existed. Read the Case for Chrsit and get all the empirical evidence that Skeptic Lee Strobel gathered trying to disprove that Jesus existed.

Jesus lived His public life in the land of Palestine under the Roman rule of Tiberius (ad 14-37). There are four possible Roman historical sources for his reign: Tacitus (55-117), Suetonius (70-160), Velleius Paterculus (a contemporary), and Dio Cassius (3rd century). There are two Jewish historical resources that describe events of this period: Josephus (37-100?), writing in Greek, and the Rabbinical Writings (written in Hebrew after 200, but much of which would have been in oral form prior to that time). There are also sources (non-historians) writing about the Christians, in which possible mentions are made (e.g., Lucian, Galen).

None that are reputable. There are brief mentions of the man who would come to be called Jesus here and there. However, even the Church, after investigation upon investigation, has decided that many, maybe most, were added to the material by kindly monks and the like. Some Christians today, seeking validity for their violent, war-mongering religion, will differ. But after all, Jesus was merely yet another rural preacherman among the many on the roads of a backwater of the Roman Empire.

From the Old Testament alone, more than 2000 specific prophesies have been fulfilled.
No other so called Holy book compares.Most of the 333 prophesies concerning the Messiah were fulfilled by the birth and life of Jesus Christ and the rest will be fulfilled at His second coming. A mathematician, Peter Stoner, had his graduate students calculate what the odds would be of any one person fulfilling just eight of these prophesies. He found the chance was one in 100,000,000,000,000,000 !Only a God who knows the future could have revealed these prophesies to those that He would have record them in His Word.
In spite of what is being taught today, the truth is we can reconstruct most of the life of Jesus Christ through non - Christian writers of the first century. Even Celsus who despised Christianity, never considered claiming that Jesus Christ did not exist.This is what can be learned from the writing of Celsus...
He was born of a virgin in a small village of Judea;
He was adored by wise men;
His birth was followed by the slaughter of infants by order of Herod;
He took flight to Egypt, where Celsus supposed Christ learned the charms of the Magicians;
After returning, He resided in Nazareth;He was baptized and the Holy Spirit descended on Him as a voice was heard from heaven;
He elected disciples;
He was a friend with publicans and other low people;
He cured the lame and blind;
He raised people from the dead;
He was betrayed by Judas;
He was denied by Peter;
In addition Celsus refers to several details of Christ's passion, crucifiction, and resurrection.
In December of 1974, Time Magazine printed an article entitled "How True Is The Bible?" in it they discussed the condition of the Bible after two hundres years of attacks by critics. It states...
The breath, sophistication and diversity of all this Biblical investigation are impressive, but it begs a question: Has it made the Bible more credible or less?....After more than a century of facing the heaviest scientific guns that could be brought to bear, the Bible has survived - and is perhaps better for the seige. Even on the critics own terms - Historical fact - the scriptures seem more acceptable now then they did when the rationalists began their attack."
Twenty seven books of the New Testament, nineteen Pagan writers, and three Jewish writers testify to Jesus Christ's historical reality. When I hear people say that Jesus or the Bible is just a myth I just realise that they are simply unaware of the facts.I recommend The Case For Christ by Lee Strobel and or Skeptics Answered or The Gate Of Hell Shall Not Prevail by D. James Kennedy, and The Signature of God by Grant R. Jeffrey. May all your thoughts be taken captive by the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do concerning these men.For some time ago Theudus rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and come to nothing. After this man Judas of galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeted him were dispersed. And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone: for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing; but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it - lest you even be found to fight against God. (Acts 5:35-39)

Actually there are records that say that a man born to a Joseph and Mary with the name Jesus did exist. Whether you believe the teachings is up to you. But, no offense, your use of "mythological" is offensive to others. This is a belief that you may not have, but millions of people around the world do believe in. Have some taste and tactfulness. Learn some manners. Do not insult millions of people. It's rude. I believe in free-speech and the expression of ideas and opinions, but only when the person is intelligent and diplomatic enough to discuss ideas. You are an ignorant american.

There is more evidence for Jesus then for Christopher Columbus. We know more about Jesus then we do Christopher. People claimed to see Jesus with their very own eyes. The Romans who despised Christianity did not say anything contrary to what Christians believed. The Jewish Talmud affirms that Jesus not only existed but performed miracles, it just attributes it to sorcery. But no one at the time claimed Jesus never existed.

The Bible, along with maintaining its status of BEST SELLER year after year, contains historical evidence of Jesus having existed. The Bible IS a widely accepted ACCURATE Historical Document, with scientific evidence that backs up the events spoken of in its pages.
YOU say "myth"...those who know Him personally say,
"He's ALIVE and WELL, thank you very much."

I agree. I also thought how did they truly know mary was a virgin * hears the others gasping audibly*( I believe she was, but.......)
I mean - how do we KNOW????????? any of it, but on the other hand Jesus of Nazareth was a good movie, beautiful. And I still beliveve, I can't even explain it, but I do. But your question was very good, like what is the EVIDENCE??? I don't know, lol. * shrugs* But I know Christians, are the biggest hypocrites, warmongers and criminals in the world, look at priests, etc, and the Vatican which has literally millions of dollars worth of gold, etc in their basement, while there people starve in the street, and do not get me started on the Crusades and the anti-semitic Pope Pious. Wow....I am really feeling so smart today....whew!

happy to oblige. in spite of the undeniable fact that authentic fundies disdain me and my perspectives. evaluate first the Jesus' resurrection is shown through the writers of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, the Pauline letters, James, one million-2 Peter and Hebrews. each and every of those authors has been continuously shown to place in writing with above favourite readability and integrity. Luke is an historic historian of significant integrity and arguably the superb historic historian of the middle East. He tended to apply technical words in connection with political and geographical assistance. those words have been continuously shown through background and archaeology to be precise. Luke mentions that there have been one extra 500 witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I undertaking all and sundry to offer evidence that those authors have any shown historic errors of their texts. i might purely ask which you supply those authors an identical admire which you will possibly supply a journalist (and that i comprehend there are not any authentic newshounds on the situations, i'm purely attempting to be fantastic) from the vast apple situations. The documentary evidence of the recent testomony is above reproach and the form of surely manuscripts dwarfs the subsequent closest rfile of historic background (those contain the Iliad and the Odyssey). between the superb archaeologists (initially a Bible skeptic), WF Albright has written, "there is not something yet prejudice against the information of the previous and New Testaments." of direction now, there is an excellent number of prejudice against Albright as properly. And Laine... many have died for a lie. the certainty of the Apostles of their martyrdom is that if Jesus did not upward push from the lifeless, they died understanding the resurrection replaced right into a lie. human beings die for lies every day, yet human beings do not die for a lie that they comprehend for a fact is a lie.

Yes, but his name was not Jesus. The name Jesus is a Greek name.
His real name is Yeshua ben Yoseph, the word ben in Hebrew means son of. There was no letter J in Hebrew or Aramaic 2000 years ago.
Josephus was a Jewish scholar who lived about 100 years after Christ, wrote in his book of antiquities, describes Yeshua as being a man of average looks and dark skin.
