Hi, I'm concerned about my back pain, because it never stops. I mean it literally never stops hurting, no matter what I do. I'm under a lot of stress, so do you think that's why? My boyfriend causes me a lot of stress, my family, my work, things like that... and it just hurts all the time. What should I do?

I'm sure the stress in your life certainly isn't helping matters any. Your back should not be hurting all the time. You need to schedule an appt. with a dr. for a complete checkup, including xrays of your back. Be sure to let the doc know you've been having back problems. Don't wait til the problem gets more serious. Take care of yourself now.

I am a licensed massage therapist and do see this problem quite a bit.

It is most likely caused by all the stress you are under. Mental stress can manifest itself physically, especially in the form of tight muscles. You are probably so tight that your muscles are causing you continuous pain.

I would call a local massage therapist, preferably one who has experience with back pain (most self employed therapists are better with this than those that work at a spa who do mostly relaxation). If you don't feel any relief from a massage or 2 then I would contact a chiropractor.

Let me know if you are in the Boston area and I can refer you to some people.

Feel better soon! De-Stress...you can't help those around you if you don't take care of your health first!

You need to see a doctor, maybe an MRI to see why your back hurts. If you have a herniated disc that is pushing on a nerve, it can be very painful. If an exam by a doctor is normal, then maybe some counseling to help with all of your stress. You should not have to be so stressed and in such pain. I hope you can get help soon.

stress definitely causes pain to increase. I recommend you have an examination by a chiropractor to find out if there is something in the spine that needs to be corrected. I recommend you see a psychologist to discuss all the stress going on in your life and find out what you can do to resolve it. you have to treat both the body and the mind to have a resolution to this problem.
