Whoever sees all beings in the soul
and the soul in all beings
does not shrink away from this.
In whom all beings have become one with the knowing soul
what delusion or sorrow is there for the one who sees unity?
It has filled all.
It is radiant, incorporeal, invulnerable,
without tendons, pure, untouched by evil.
Wise, intelligent, encompassing, self-existent,
it organizes objects throughout eternity.

– Isha Upanishad Verses 6-8

We reside at the meeting point between two fields: matter and consciousness, which is found in the electromagnetic field around us. What if God was just an unseen energy field? Would you be less in awe of Him because he asks nothing of you but to exist?

Consciousness study is a new field, and considered a proto-science. As of yet there are no testable methods, but my "what if" meant to imply that this field had been scientifically proven as the root of consious energy.

So, if it were proven that cognition came from a source outside of the physical body in a field of energy, would you still be in awe...still a what if but if you don't like hypotheticals then you wouldn't be in the R&S section.

I am no longer surprised by the fact that every formulation of God is based on untestable claims involving unrealities.

As always, bring some evidence of the claim and I would consider it on its merits.

All your "What if" presents is another form of the "God of the Gaps."

Since I worship the life force that manifests in all creation this hardly detract from God's awesomeness.
While typing this I got to thinking...I wonder if the awesomeness of God is something we recognize or create...not that it really matters.

matter and conciousness are not fields, not in the same way that the electromagnetic field is. you appear to be making word salad here - perhaps it makes for good poetry, although i tend to think not, and it does little for clarity of expression.

I don't see God as a "Him" anyway. God asks no thing. God offers everything. I have no choice, but I can pretend I do and if that makes me happy whoopee.
