I have a Polaroid One Step 1000 SX 70 Land Camera and since they discontinued the film, I read you can buy 600 and it will fit, and it still works but it has some color differences. Well, I got the film in and it fits alright, but it wont let me take any pictures. I was just wondering if anyone knows if 600 film is really compatible with a Polaroid One Step 1000 SX 70 Land Camera.

According to this site, you have to modify your camera. It tells how, though. Try it out.

There's a few modifications you have to make, but if the camera isn't powering up, then the SX-70 needs to be checked in the battery contacts. Offhand, it sounds like they're dirty and need to be cleaned. Try a Q-tip soaked in some isopropyl alcohol to dissolve corrosion on the contacts (it's in the film compartment; the battery is part of the film pack).

Alternatively, if your film is old or has been badly stored, the battery in the film pack may be dead. Check the expiration date of the film. Or try a fresh 600 film pack from the store.

Here's how to modify the SX-70 to take proper pictures with 600 film:

And that film recommended by the other poster costs $41.00! That's a lot.

Lord of the lens is okay, but very expensive. You can either get his film and reuse the filter that he has put on top of his film or do what I do and do a little mod on the camera. Find a 28mm neutral density 4 filter. You will need something equal to 2 stops. Remove the metal ring and hot glue the filter to the lens. Then when you use 600 film, just remove the little metal nubs on the bottom. This is probably why the camera won't allow you to take photos. Once those are gone, the battery can connect properly. Read here but ignore the steps for removing the photocell cover. http://www.foundphotography.com/PhotoThoughts/archives/2006/06/polaroid_sx70_modification_for.html

Like many others answered I too have my polaroid camera....have not used it in years, and so don't know if I can get any film. I've come across some of the old pics and some are still very good.

Check lordofthelens.net for film for your camera. A double pack (20 photos) will cost you $41.00 + shipping.

Amazing what a quick web search can discover, isn't it.
