Oregon Flower accused me of Christian bashing for asking the following question:

"Does Genesis 1-3 more resemble History, Myth, or Poetry?"

Does such a question amount to Christian bashing? If so, in what way? If not, why would someone accuse me of such an attack?

No. But a lot of Christians are really insecure. Ask Kathy Griffith.

I do not believe that the question amounts to Christian bashing, but I can understand why OF would think so. The problem is in your use of the word "myth".

"Myth" is commonly used to mean "fairy tale", an ancient story of no historical significance used for entertainment only. This context of the word "myth" is often aimed at Christian/Jewish records as a deliberate insult by athiests: it is a snobbish form of button-pushing.

The scholarly use of "myth" refers to oral history, common in cultures that do NOT have any written records, but is not considered an anti-historical slur. This oral tradition is (quite often) just as accurate as written records, because of the strict teaching methods involved in becoming a 'rememberer' or cultural historian.

I believe it is the common (abusive) usage of "myth" that is causing the problem. You should probably edit your first question, to clarify which definition of "myth" you intend.

Umm you wasn't Christian bashing that was just a normally question right there. For the looks of it to me the chick wouldn't know what Christian bashing is. She probably mistaken your question for it. You asked a good question.

It's not Christian bashing. I was going to answer it, but then my phone rang and I got distracted. Anyway, I think it is a combination of poetry and myth, with perhaps a bit of Jewish history thrown in there.

Not bashing at all. I think she mistakes you for the many idiots who ask questions such as "why is the bible gay"
either way your question had no bashing quality in it.

It doesn't sound like bashing to me. It sounds like a perfectly logical question for a non-Christian to ask. This person probably just took it the wrong way.

Delayed reaction.
You are just a little condescending and sarcastic about Christianity but actually this question was not too bad :)

No, that question has no bashing of any kind in it. Someone was just looking for a fight.
