Every piercing is a little smelly. Its because your body is "healing" the hole by producing more skin cells to fill it. But because a ring is there, the skin cells get pushed out. What you will get in return is a bad smelling gunk.
To prevent this, CLEAN YOUR PIERCING OUT! I have gauged ear holes and they get stinky really bad, but I clean them whenever I shower and they're nice and stink-free.

Sometimes, when I'm wearing steel or titanium to sleep, the barbell will retain a little "morning breath" smell on them. But then again, so does the rest of your mouth. So your piercing requires cleaning just like anything else. It's not going to be the kind of "stench" you're imagining- not wearing deodorant on a hot day or something.
My glass retainer doesn't hold a smell nearly as much. But I have a vertical labret, so a glass retainer may not be viable for you if you have say, snakebites. Try bioplast?

No....i've had mine for 5 years now and if it ever started to stink i think i'd take it out or go see a doctor or something because that is not normal!! Just take care of it and clean it and that shouldnt happen...if so, you know somethings wrong!

Any piercing will smell bad because of the buildup of dead tissue. The trick is to clean your piercing at least once per week.
Do you have ear piercings? Do you ever take your earrings out? If yes, take a whiff of those babies!! PHEW!

All piercings stink, but if you keep it clean it won't.
My ex-boyfriend had one, and I never noticed a foul smell when I kissed him.

I have a lip peircing. As long as you take care of it, clean it, and don't let it get infected-- you're good to go.
It's like any other peircing. You just have to be responsible and take care of it.

They don't stink unless you don't take care of it or wash it.
It's like brushing your teeth, you have to keep them clean, otherwise your mouth will reek.

cause oil dirt and dead cells get trapped inside it so the dead cells start too rot inside
