I am making one for this weekend.... but I want it to look realistic looking. My question is... do you mix the cake mixes (german and white) and bake them together? Or do you bake them seperately and then just mix them together after they are crumbled? Last time I did them seperately, and it did not look as realistic. I was going to try it together this time, but I dont want it to look even worse and I dont want a total of 4 cakes sitting around. Secondly, any tips at getting even coloring on the cookie crumbs? ( and do you take the filling out first before putting them in the food processor)

Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions, in any size pan. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.

Once cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy. Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.

Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.

Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box. Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box. Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy!

As far as I know, the cake should be baked separately. If you bake them together, it'll look just plain brown which is even worse. The reason why they should be baked separately is because they want two color because cat litter have 2 color - the clay & sometimes silica gel or the perfume beads. Baking them together produces only 1 color - light brown. If you don't want a total of 4 cakes sitting around, maybe you could half the german & white cake mix.

First, you crumble sandwich cookies (with the filling) in small batches in a food processor. Don't forget to scrape often. Take a 1/4 cup of the crumbs and put it in a small bowl. Add a few drops of food coloring in & mix with your hand for even coloring but you don't want your hands to look green. Maybe you can get a pair of clean clear glove, the one that people usually use for baking.

GOOD LUCK!

I guess the youngsters will like it! I made chocolate rice krispies with "airborne dirt and dirt": and "worms" on it and the greater youthful teenagers have been given a kick out of it. i think of the kitty clutter cake is exciting. i would not make it individually yet i could have not have been given any difficulty eating it. : ) And, howdy, if the youngsters do no longer like it then your loved ones can consume it.
