It was a serious mistake because I was working out and then needed to take my medicine because of shortness of breath. I haven't felt the same since. My brother was about to take me to ER. I'm just curious to see if someone else accidently made the same mistake, and if so did it damage your heart

Gawd Almighty, honey, what are you, suicidal? NO NO NO! I'm surprised you're able to write about it. Please do not do that again. Did you feel your heart palpitating? Did you become sweaty? Did you become dizzy?
Please let your doctor know you did this, Ok?
Do not be afraid or shy about telling them either. They may want to see you to check your heart. Call them tomorrow.

On second thought, just to be safe, call a local "24/7 clinic" and tell them what you did and see if they want you to come in. Like the writer ahead of me said, stay calm. But please call them and ask them tonight. I wouldn't wait til tomorrow. Good luck.

The problem with what you did is that albuterol makes your heart beat faster. So do energy drinks. You could go into tachycardia (super-fast heatbeat) and your heart give out.

No energy drinks within 3 hours of asthma meds. And only one energy drink at a time, please.

And watch the energy gum, too.

I have two kids, kim 21, who outgrew her asthma, and Joel, 17, who still has to keep his inhaler nearby, esp on bad air quality days and on lawn mowing days.

well albuterol affects your bronchial tubes and energy drinks provoke your body to produce testosterone and dopamine and other neurotransmitters teh testerone would have a direct impact on your heart beat, but thats teh goal of energy drinks, teh albuterol should have no affect on your heart...i use albuterol and i drink redbull all teh time, it should be fine

Not a good decision. Just relax. If you notice a rapid heart rate which continues for more then a half hour - call your doctor.
