Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.
The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.
The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."
Here is the text of the document, On the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons (1986): http://www.newadvent.org/library/docs_df86ho.htm

With love in Christ.

What kind of question is that?! I'm not being mean, I'm just saying.
I am a born and raised Roman Catholic. My mom always taught me to keep a wide open mind to everyone and to never hate any race, religion, etc. As I have grown in the Catholic schooling system, I have obviously noticed that they do say that they accept all people.
I do not want to disrespect the Church's belief no matter how "strange" it may be. I think that the Church is very hypocritical. They tell the youth of today that homosexuality is a sin, but then they tell us (well..not really...because my classmates and I are technically not "youth" in the Church, seeing that we are receiving Confirmation) to treat everyone as equals. Which they, as the Church, have never done (women cannot perform mass or receive Holy Orders).
Only just a few months ago, my mom, my sister, and I went to Church and one of the following announcements after the ceremony was about making same sex marriages illegal in the state of New Jersey (I believe that's what it said). We ended up leaving a bit earlier because this really ticked my mom off. I ended up getting a speech in the car about the Church, acceptance, and the priests that paid people off to shut up about what the priests themselves did to their parish member's children. I still go to that speech for help in everyday life. I have remembered every word of it.
I think that, in the REAL world, many Roman Catholics that say they are true Catholics do not admit that they are pro-gay because they do not want to be looked at differently in their parish community. It's pretty ridiculous of the Church to say that their followers cannot be pro-choice or pro-gay. The Church can only teach you, they cannot rein over you as a dictatorship and tell you want you can and cannot do.
In Conclusion, I say that you can be a true Catholic and accept the pro-gay lifestyle. The Church just want everyone to remain "pure" or their preseption of the word. I don't understand it. It's all a load of hypocritial junk to me.

ok, I'm not Catholic, I'm lutheran but here are my views.
homosexuality is a sin. all sins are equal. homosexuality is no worse a sin than any other sin. So whats the point of anti-gay parades and stuff? Why don't we have anti-stealing parades?
I am personally pro-gay, but also pro-life... lol I'm messed up.

I don't know, I am Jewish but I can tell you that in a town I used to live in, there was a Catholic priest that held a mass for gays. I am not sure how it worked or if it was a true Catholic church but it was referred to as the gay Catholic church and the gay priest.
I know it exists but how much support it would get from the Vatican I don't know.
Sorry I can't be more helpful on this one.

This is easier than it seems.
You love the sinner, hate the sin.
Homosexuals who are not sexually active are not sinning.
Remember that ANYONE who is not in a heterosexual marriage and is having sex is sinning- not just the gays.
If you mean pro-choice as in pro abortion...NO. No one can favor the death of an innocent child for any reason and call themselves a Catholic.

Well almost everything we do (or even think) is a sin according to the Bible, but yes God loves all his children, and everyone who accepts Jesus as their personal saviour will enter the Kingdom of God. So by all means love all people and support human rights :)
Edit: And i personally don't think homosexuality is a sin, if you truly love someone for their soul it cannot possibly be a sin :P

i like to reflect on the story of sodem where lot resided he was told to leave so the city could be destroyed. before this took place didn't he ask how they could be spared with the responce from god being that if ten of them would leave with him the whole of the population would be spared. so wasn't lot gay tolerant at the least. and are we better than him to hate them even when the god that "hates" them chose lot to be one of his favorites inspite of his love for those that he shared his "all the way gay home with." queers and found a way to appreciate thier company.
if i get stones threw at me for my answer please throw clever humerous or serious ones but if a mad one is all i get that be fine.

God accepts all people, but God doesn't accept any sin. If they repent, He accepts them, but do you know of any gays who actually repented and became straight?
Im not a Catholic, but i think in ur religion, as well as in mine, you have to keep ur life straight with the Bible. Like Jesus said, that we are truly His disciples if we keep His Word (Scriptures, Gospel, i. e. the Bible) so no, i dont think you can be pro-something that's clearly frowned upon in the Bible and a true Catholic at the same time.
lol homosexuality isnt a sin? for real?
Leviticus 20:13
'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

GOD MADE THEM JUST THE WAY THEY ARE...PEOPLE...JUST DIFFERENT, TO US. I HAVE NEVER BEEN ANTI-GAY. MY FRIENDS DO NOT HAVE TO DENY OR PRETEND ANYTHING AROUND ME. I AM AND ALWAYS WILL BE CATHOLIC.
