Some pain managment clinics will prescribe the medication of your choice. They will usually only do this after you have been on another, less potent medication for quite some time. Just let your doctor know that your current pain meds don't seem to work like they used to. Doctors know and expect that their pain patients may become tolerant to many opiates. Tell the dr. that you had the opportunity to try some methadone, and it relieved your pain more than what you are currently taking.

Just discuss ur situation with ur Doc- Honesty does impress them. If you are not happy with the results, go get another opinion. Are there Methadone Clinics in ur area that can point you in the right direction? Good luck! Take Care!

tell him/her that you have a drug problem and would like to quit without having to check into rehab......i dont know if you can ask for Methadone specifically, but if he/she doesn't give you that they should give you something that is pretty much the same thing. Good Luck.
