is there a speaker that you can't hear absolutely anything from the sides or rear until you get right in front of it? the sound waves don't spread out or something.

The closest you are going to get is electrostatic speakers, these have the smallest listening area. However this is for imaging purposes, and sound by its very nature is very dispersive.

If there was a speaker like that it would not be good enough for high fidelity sound reproduction.The best speakers are the ones that "disappear" when reproducing music.You should not be able to locate them as a sound source.

Any directional horn speaker will deliver sound to where it is aimed.

This is only true with high frequency sounds since low frequencies are felt more than heard.

Yes, but it has no bass response, since bass is omnidirectuional. It sucks for music, as sound quality is poor
