It is painful, usually for about a week or two, I lived off mashed potatoes and soup, lol! Just take some tylenol, that is all you really can do, but you'll have them off in time, and it's totally worth it! Also, follow everything little thing they tell you to do for your teeth and braces.

Having braces is a painful process. What you can do is take Advil, Tylenol or Motrin before you go to your appointment. There is really nothing you can do, it's going to be painful for about 3-4 months, just until you get use to it. It's painful because your teeth are literally moving. Consider this a new diet.

Your teeth are hurting because they are being forcefully moved from there position this is normal while getting braces on or getting your wired tightened this will usualy hurt up to 3 days the first few hours after you get it done usualy hurts the most. What you should do is take a pain relever until your teeth adjust to this and it will get alot easier, Dont give up it's worth it!

Aww honey, you poor thing!
I had them for 5 years so I know how you feel.
Sad thing is, though, it doesn't get any better if it's anything like I went through.
I always took Advil to help, but nothing works completely.
You could suck on some ice, but don't chew it, that'll just make it worse.
The only good thing about the whole process of getting and having braces is that your smile will look and feel AMAZING when you finally get them off.
Good luck and just keep thinking about the end result, it is definitely worth it, so hang in there!

i have invisalign braces, and i put a new set on every two weeks. i have had these braces for about a year now, and i can tell you that you will get used to the pain. the first few days are the worst! but it will get better, just find a good pain reliever and drink something cold.

Get some baby orjel, my mom used to rub wiskey on my teeth during that time of my life, however, I am not saying to do that, if your under 18, check with your parent(s) first. But I know that the Orjel works, and a couple of asprin.'
Hope you feel better soon. Take care.

Normal. Take an otc pain killer. You will have pain for a week or two, any longer get back to the dentist. Your dentist should have told you what I just did.
