Ever since my sister got a kitten my dog always hides behind me and whimpers and the kitten takes advantage of this by taking his toys away.

Get the kitten to sleep on a towel, then let the dog have the towel to really sniff over. Distance checks like this will help the dog. Don't push him into doing something he doesn't want to do, you just take it gradually.

LOL! I'm sorry, but you have to admit that's kind of funny. Not for HIM though!

I would protect him, frankly. Bring the kitten in, wait for your dog to relax (even if he's behind you) then take the kitten out. I would not let the kitten terrorize him.

I have a new kitten, too, and he has everyone hopping around here!

put them in a cage with dividers and cover the dog's mouth and put covers on the kitten's claws( are they claws?) and leave them there with water, food and their own toys
