I am 50+ years old. Is that too long for a older woman?

Absolutely not! I think many older women look beautiful with long hair. It seems to be considered a sign of health in older women, and I think it makes you appear younger. It's also great because if you pull your hair into a high ponytail, it gently lifts the skin around your face. (Kind of giving you a little "facelift" of sorts. I'm 28 and I love that it does this for me!)

It depends on the condition of the hair.

Older women can look great w/ long hair so long as it is cut in flattering style, is healthy & lush. The color should be rich. Gray hair is okay too as long as it is shiny & a pretty shade of gray.

Many older women's best feature is shoulder length hair, er excuse me any woman's best feature is often her long hair. Anyway it never detracts from her beauty!

Does it look good on you? Is it too much work? The days of cutting your hair short when you turn 40 are over, thank goodness. It's your hair on your head and you're the one who has to wash and fix it. Make yourself happy.

Not necessarily. I have a client that has shoulder length hair and it look great on her. All depends on (please don't take offense to this statement) how young you look.
I've been a licensed cosmetologist for thirty years.
Hope this helps.
