I'm 53 and have never gotten a speeding ticket or been in an accident. I have been driving steadily since 1969.

He's an adult, he should pay for his own tickets. Now I believe the real problem is speed. Speed is, with drinking, the most dangerous thing you can do with a car. Paying the ticket isn't your main issue here. If the car was paid by you and/your wife, I would take the car back until he learns to respect the speed limits. If he got his own car, you can't very well do that, but you can stop paying for the tickets and show him some accidents pictures.

I'm 47 and I've been stopped for speeding twice, but got warnings both times. That was years ago. I've learned since then that nothing on Earth is worth rushing over. My husband is 54 and he's only had one speeding ticket. My sons are 21 and 25 and each have had one ticket.

One ticket a few years ago when I was going 60 in a 55 on the freeway. Must have been quota day for the state police. I am 24.

The police do have quotas to justify their job, and it is great revenue for the city, with that said they also target certain areas where complaints of speeding or there have been a lot of accidents, so there is a 2 fold reason for tickets. The police also look for aggressive driving and excessive lane changes.

It depends on where you are and how you drive. Also, depending on the state you live in, you may be one ticket away from a license suspension unless you can get supervision for one of the tickets. Most states allow no more than three convictions in a 12-month period.
