alot of human foods are toxic and can kill your dog, that includes candy. The sugar in candy can cause diarrhea, vomiting, kidney failure, and death: you need to get your dog to a vet.
here's a link to an article that talks about other human foods that are toxic to dogs:

if you can't afford the vet right now, then you should call in and explain the situation. Your vet will most likely allow you to work out a "payment plan," but you need to get your dog to the vet ASAP.

RE:
My dog ate a lot of candy and is vomiting - will she be ok?
Before I spend $300 at the emergency vet, which I don't have, can someone tell me if they have experienced this. My Boston Terrier got into a bag of soft creamy candy - like kisses but not chocolate - white and pink and green things. She probably ate a pound of them. Now she is drinking...

That's a painful lesson. It doesn't do any good for me to tell you the dog will be ok, as I have no way of knowing any more than you do. You paid your vet for services; you should ask your vet tomorrow morning since you didn't do so today. All that sugar was toxic, and how your dog does depends on it's will to fight the illness, and it's general health. Your sister had better not make that mistake again, and, if the dog survives, you had better train the dog so it doesn't get up on the table to steal food. Meanwhile, don't leave things around. I'll pray that your dog survives without any serious problems. -!-

She has had a candy overload, just like kids do sometimes. Check the vomit, does it contain traces of the lollies? It is good for her to get it out of her system. Ring your local vet and ask over the phone, they should be able to give you a direct answer. If your dog is fine in between then don't worry too much. Obviously the preservatives or food colourings in the candy was too much for her system and the quicker she got it out the better.

Aside from "just getting it out of her system" she may develop an electrolyte imbalance that could make her much more sick than the just the ingredients in the candy. If the candy contained any xylitol, this is toxic to dogs. Call the vet and have the candy ingredients in front of you so you can read it to them...they are unlikely to tell you to come in just to make some money, so heed their advice...they may sign you up for "Care Credit" which will allow you to pay for emergency vet services interest free for 18 months. Ask about it...if they don't offer it, ask if they have a payment plan or if they know a provider who does. Hope she gets better.

How on Earth could we POSSIBLY tell you if you're dog is going to be OK or not?
She'll only be getting it out of her system if she vomited within half an hour of eating the candy. If she started vomiting after that, she's ill. Chocolate destroys kidneys. Address this question to a vet - at least phone one, that won't cost you $300. But don't expect useful info from here!!!

EDIT: I mean just READ some of the incredible rubbish on here! Never post medical questions on here, direct them at a vet! This forum is fine for 'what shall I name my pet' or 'what breed do you think this is' etc but NOT medical questions. Complete waste of time, and potentially dangerous if God forbid anyone actually followed some of the crock advice given on here.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://tinyurl.im/tb05M
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I have always heard chocolate can kill dogs but I am not sure about those taffy things. I would call one of those big store that have vets. Do you have a PetSmart in your area? You could probably call and speak with a nurse or something to get some ideas on what to look for. It's probably good that she is throwing it up but I would call to make sure.
