You will not find that class on line. There are several certifications you must carry. You have to become a certified dispatcher, emergency medical dispatch certified, NCIC certified and there are several other classes you need to take. The agency who hires you will pay for all of your classes. I have been in public safety since 1996. Email me with further questions.

I dispatched/911 for 7 years untill I went to the streets. Its a high stress, very mental taxing, and pretty much thankless job. Depending on the size of your department you do both 911 and radio or in larger agency they split you up and you do one or the other. Either way you get worked hard.

The best skills you can have are multitasking and attention to detail. It is definately not a job everyone can do, those of us who can do develop a love for it.

I dont know of any online class. Good Luck

Have you considered volunteering to answer calls for a HELP line?
Being a 9-1-1 operator can be very stressful, plus your employers are going to want you to have some experience. This might help you decide, if this is the right job for you, plus give you some experience to boot.
