Not only has hunting kept our civilization alive throughout its' history, especially along its' advancing frontier, it STILL keeps a LOT of food on peoples' tables TODAY, whether some people can afford the prices of meat in the grocery stores, or NOT!

Well, I live in rural, dirt poor Arkansas and I hunt because:
#1 I like deer meat.
#2 I can't afford choice cuts of beef anymore.
#3 I dry age my deer.
#4 You can't get dry aged beef here anymore, and if you
could, I definately would have to take out a bank loan to
afford it!
I do not hunt for sport. I hunt only for the meat. I try to kill two- three a season, so we have enough to last until next year. When I was young I hunted for the thrill of the kill and I hunted anything that moved. I am repulsed by the act of killing now, however I do not want to become a vegetarian. I only harvest deer now, nothing else, unless my dad wants a pot of squirrel and dumplin's. Whenever I kill an innocent animal, a part of me dies too. Hope this helps you with your studies. People have hunted since before history, it is the only really "Natural" thing that people still do except maybe breed.

Man is an omnivore by Nature's design and we nourish ourselves with the flesh of other animals as well as plants. Man is designed to hunt. For him not to is actually 'unnatural'.

The real question is, why are some people AGAINST hunting. Their position makes no logical sense. It is a perversion of Nature and all that is good.

Because it is legal & enjoyed by Millions of Hunters & Sportsman.* Wild life is a renewable resource.* The majority of Hunters eat what they harvest & it is better & healthier to eat than other sources of meat available.* Hunting has been going on since the creation of man.* Some people hunt and some do not.* There is nothing negative about hunting as long as you obey the game laws & respect the land owners land & do not litter.*

I am a hunter because hunters are natural beings who eat and are willing to do what is necessary to bring the meat to our tables. Those who don't approve of hunting are hypocrites. We all eat, and all food production involves the killing of animals. whether it be the deer I shoot or the worm in the way of the plow used in the fields.
Humans are part of the natural food chain, and those who hate hunting are denying their true place in the natural world.

I know that lots of people are led to believe that hunters are rude obnoxious morons tromping around the timber shooting everything they see and destroying everything they come across, nice anti gun story.. but far from reality

We hunt to feed our families, deer meat for instance is all natural, no hormone feed, its low in fat and high in iron and protien, most wild animals have lower fat rates than raised meat, not to mention it is cheaper,
also there is the sport of it, nothing is more of a thrill than luring a nice buck into bow range and making a nice shot that quickly and cleanly kills it.

Hunting for me is also a link to my family, a way for us to spend time outdoors as a family and enjoy each other as well as nature. its not all just killing animals, i learned so much in my life in the time spend in the timber waiting for squirrels from my grandfather, just as he did with his grandfather and his father. These were times in my life that i wouldnt change or trade for anything. i now have a dughter that i take hunting and we spend time together out in the woods, beats sitting around playing video games, it gives her a link to the past and the skills to always be able to feed herself and her family.

these are just a few of the reasons i hunt, im sure i can think of more. hope this helps you and hope you write a paper on the way we hunters realy are not just the way the anti hunters portray us

People hunt to put food on their table, control animal population and some hunt because of family heritage.Without hunting and proper animal managment, there would be animals starving to death due to lack of food, farmers would lose vast amounts of income due to crop damage, and the frequency of traffic accidents caused by deer and other large game animals would drastically increase.Without hunters, the DNR would need to raise your taxes to fund their projects and pay their workers.Without hunters, natural conservation would lose MILLIONS a year in revenue.

All people hunt, either for themselves or by proxie. Those who buy meat in the store hunt by proxie, (have someone else do their killing for them), many people prefer the better tasting, healthier meat available from the wild and will take their own meat whenever possible.

People are for hunting because they like it, and it's a way to get food that you can't just go to a store and buy. It's also alot of fun.
