Even tho your son doesn't have a credit file, put a fraud alert in with all three credit bureaus. You may want to put an alert on your own.

It's a very bad idea to carry your own social security card, let alone your children's cards.

According to Social Security here is their answer regarding stolen cards:
"Reporting a lost or stolen card to us will not prevent its misuse. If you have lost your card, you may apply for a replacement but Social Security takes no action just because it has been lost or stolen."

Thats Social Security for you.

that's a criminal offense for all people to tamper with one's mail or mailbox. that's extremely useful to checklist the incidient on your close by USPS submit place of work. The USPS has their very own study team and that they * could * look into this count for you and/or take some action. even however, regrettably, without evidience, it is going to likely be annoying for anybody to do something to him. in case you or all people observed him taking mail, you're starting to be a case.

Visit their site. This is where you report the theft. Good luck. Sorry about your trouble. Nothing scarier than having all your personal things taken these days.
