k so i'm just a regular 13 year old girl, except i take pre ap classes so i always have lots of homework, and i'm constantly having friendship and boy problems thrown at me. and i easily get a bad temper. i think that meditating for a little each night or something would help organize my thoughts and stuff. but exactly what do i do? i heard somewhere that you're supposed to make sure its quiet, then sit criss cross with your hands on your knees, and close your eyes and like focus on something. but idk. someone explain pleasee.

According to my driving instructor (I know, weird) you just sit in a quiet place, clear your mind, and focus on any ambient background noise (wind, leaves, etc.) and just relax. It's worked extremely well for me, and I'm taking many AP classes while working and doing two volunteer jobs.

EDIT: Don't do any of that Bible stuff

How about meditating on God's word, the Bible? Try reading some Psalms or the New Testament. Quiet prayer time helps me. Here are some verses you could look up and meditate on regarding anger: James 1:19,20; Romans 12:19; Proverbs 25:28; Ecclesiastes 7:9; Psalm 37:8; Ephesians 4:31,32. I'll pray for you.

The Jewish and Christian meaning of MEDITATION is
to ponder, to think-on, to concentrate on, to consider the meaning and aspects, to contemplate the meaning of.
Usually the person will choose a phrase or several paragraphs from the Bible (maybe Psalms Proverbs John or Romans, read it over and over. Maybe even memorize it. Then mulling it over in your mind, consider how these written things effect you. The central thought is What does God want to say to me through these words?
Quiet is best, but meditation is something you can carry on in your thoughts all through a day, letting it sink in.
No specific body position is necessary. You can start with 5 minutes and lengthen your time as you can.

Some of what you read will address anger, especially in Proverbs.

Eastern Religions teach a person is to EMPTY their mind, In contrast to filling it.

Medication are not happy pills. Your 13 and your you cannot be put on any medication unless what you suffer from is debilitating. Too many people think meds are a cure all. Do something to take your mind off your stresses. Like blast your fav music and just dance you a** off. That whole focus on something idea, sounds kinda lame. Right a list of things you need to do, and cross off as you go along. Hopefully this will help a bit. Hang in there, and vent to someone when your at your limit!!

i have been doing my (more or less) daily meditation under a tree outside. i have been watching the sun going down this way everyday (when it was shining). and this meditation got so strong, that anytime i sit down anywhere in the proper position, i am in deep trance within seconds. so, this is the fruit of long-term endeavor. but you are invited to follow the path of yoga anyway. may be peace on you always! pd.

I asked a question for my sons insomnia. Someone mentioned meditation tapes. I'm planning to see if the library has any. If not, they probably have books, or just look it up on line. I used to listen to those nature Cd's, they'd probably help get you in the right mood, but idk because I'm just now getting info on it myself. Good luck!
