Was treated from January 2007 through April 2007 and I can still smell the remants of the chemotherapy in my excretory system. It is quite disheartening and I need to know when this will end?

the actual drug tends to leave the system between 24 - 48 hours after administration, in some cases can be longer but this is the guiidelines i have been given in the hospital i work at. we also tend to tell parents to use gloves when changing their children's nappies for a week after chemotherapy stops just in case.

prior to chemotherapy all patients should or are given the long-term complications from chemotherapy talk which can explain some of the symptoms you may be experiencing now still. if in any doubt go to your oncologist and speak with him/her about it and they will be able to give you a more informed opinion of what could be happening and give you coping stratagies of how to deal with the long-term effects.
Hope that has helped in some way.

This is a question that you probably should call and ask at your doctor's office or at your next check up. I know it took my Mom in law a long tome but she tended to see it as the chemo was still working "under cover" so to speak in her system helping prevent recurrance. Don't know how accurate that is but your dr can give you good info.

Nearly 3 years since I completed my chemo, and I still have some lethargy which I believe was a side effect of my treatments.
