Um, you want his tail to be short? Is that the breed standard or just your own desire? Like others have said, you do it within a couple of days of birth, and I think they get their dewclaws removed at the same time. So much for that too, I guess. Good luck finding homes for your puppies.Make sure you tell the buyers that if it doesn't work out they must return the puppy to you. And that you guarantee their health for the first 4 years or so, since I'm sure you did all the genetic testing on both the dam and the sire.

What everyone else has said, as well as...
"The smaller the dog the less the pain"??? What the hell was that?
I think that should read "The smaller the dog the less of a fuss they're able to make"
Tail docking these days is a fashion thing, don't succumb to it. And yes, you're way too late anyway.

Too late---you're talking major surgery and pain now---plus increased chances of infection.
If it is a breed which normally has its tail docked it should have been done at 2 days old MAX. BTW The breeds I know that have docked tails are born with very tails that are quite thin and fragile at the tips which makes a big difference.

YOU can't cut their tails- but a vet can. It is usually done between 2-4 days of age but it can still be done by a vet but it will cause the puppy more pain. DO NOT do it yourself because it will cause the puppy extreme pain and it will get infected.

Docking tails MUST be done by the time a puppy is 3 days old...no later..so you are out of luck.

3 days, you now have an operation instead of a normal tail dock. This is not cruel.. I've held puppies while they were docked. They cry for a minute and they go back to sleep.

A new born pup's tail should be docked at 3 to 5 days old.If your pet is now two weeks old,you will have to wait until pup is old enough to have surgery, usually at 16 weeks old.

Should have been done at 1 to 3 days old. Too late now. Perhaps some research before you breed a litter.. Insert rolling eyes here.
