If you go through your local health department and are accepted at their Mental Health clinics, you can probably get some assistance in that manner. Also your doctor can submit your name to the pharmaceutical companies that make the medicine that you need. Most have programs that assist people who need help but can't afford it.

Wow! There is an old saying that goes something like this: Walk a mile in my moccasins, meaning live with my disorder/problem for awhile and then tell me again what I need and don't need. Some of the answers are pretty harsh. But there were some good answers -check your county's mental health center. They accept people on a sliding scale; your income (I noticed you didn't say you didn't have a job, only that you had no health insurance) will determine how much, if anything, you will have to pay for treatment and medications. And it is true that many pharmaceutical companies will do the same - maybe even pay for your medications, again along the same lines as the sliding scale. Don't listen to the negative talk, but do what you need to do for YOU! You are the part of equation that counts. With medication, perhaps you can get your life on an even keel. I wish you the best concerning this matter.

Really depends on what they prescribe, I've seen stuff from $40 US but as high as $100 a month for the newer stuff. You may want to check with your state to see if they have a prescription and medical program available for those without insurance, 2) consider getting a 2nd opinion. Nothing worse than being diagnosed with ADD and then finding out 6 months later and hundreds of dollars later that you didn't have ADD but some sort of general anxiety disorder, or something else.

Many people have learned to use natural remedies & lifestyle change to deal with many so called ailments... Most natural remedies first suggest ways to lessen the effect of ADHD such as:
1. Avoid foods and drinks high in sugar - e.g. candies - during school days and limit over weekends.
2. Avoid foods and drinks containing stimulants like caffeine - found in coffee, tea, chocolate and coca cola, as well as in many energy drinks.
3. Avoid foods and drinks with artificial flavors and colors, especially tartrazine and MSG.
4. Try to keep junk foods down to a minimum.
5. See what happens if you eliminate wheat and refined carbohydrate from the diet for a few weeks. Many children have a wheat intolerance which can cause hyperactivity. Instead use oats, brown rice and rye bread.
6. Eat lots of fresh fruit, salads and veggies. Include fish in the diet as much as possible. Take a supplement containing flaxseed oil or evening primrose oil.
The problem with medicating ADD & ADHD is the loss of the gift known as hyperfocusing. Hyperfocusing is the ability to focus on one single object or task (which interests them) Wiki defines it as an intense form of mental concentration or visualization that focuses consciousness on a narrow subject, or beyond objective reality and onto subjective mental planes, daydreams, concepts, fiction, the imagination, and other objects of the mind.
Someone who has the ability to hyperfocus on something, sees things the rest of the world does not. Ability to solve puzzles and problems that most people would not have the ability to do otherwise. Artists, writers, programmers, and numerous other creative careers require skills in which hyperfocusing would be a benefit and not a weakness.
The reality is, people dont want to pay attention to things that do not interest them. Everyone gets bored and has a natural tendancy to have their mind wander. Find what it is that interests you. Look at your life, and see what it is that you have the ability to focus on. Build on that.
The medical industrial complex makes their money by finding problems in everyday life, and finding ways to medicate those problems. We have managed thousands of years without adhd medication. There was just a time when people learned to deal with their weaknesses and build on their strengths.. without medication.

Ummm... stress and ADHD are thoroughly somewhat some issues. ADHD is being no longer able to regulate impulses and stress is being... nicely... you realize. Acknowledging you have ADHD is a robust start up. Now you basically would desire to administration your impulses. For a week, examine each thing you're approximately to do, and seem at it as in case you have been a spectator and study it to your friends movements. in case you think of it is unusual once you study it, then do no longer do it. If it variety of feels difficulty-free then do. it is stressful to make this judgement so seek for advice from a chum in case you're uncertain. additionally, talk to somebody approximately it, because of the fact i'm no longer a doctor!

Call your pharmacy and explain the situation. Most of the major drug companies now have special programs for people without insurance. I know someone who had RA and no insurance. Her meds were over 1,000.00 per month. The maker of the drug had a program and now she only has to pay like 10.00 a month.

I am 37 and have ADHD. I'm not medicated. I had a trial of it once and didn't like the way it made me feel.
There are tricks around it to get you through life. Eg. I have a job where I can get up at any time and walk around or change activities. I can also eat at my desk. I keep activities with my clients active and in places where I can leave and chill out for a few mins if it gets too much. If I have to sit through a seminar or something I chew gum and squish a piece of plastercine hidden in my hand. My partner knows not to make me go to the movies and that he needs to write stuff down or remind me if he wants me to remember to do it. I carry a note book and little diary with me at all times. I'm a big fan of 'to do' lists. I pay other people to do my tax. I study is bouts of about 7min at a time- read, eat, read, walk, read, write, read, draw.. If I read aloud I cope for about 15min periods. If I have to study or sit still for long periods I stay away from foods with artificial colours, flavour and preservatives and keep off caffeine........etc etc
ADHD also has benefits. It makes me great at brainstorming cos I can think of 30 solutions at once. I think I also get my creativity from it and am fantastic at multitasking. It also helps me appreciate that ppl are all different and think in different ways. I also have tons of energy. Most people would never guess there is anything wrong.
Check out some of the other tricks available. There is a great book called something like 'So I'm not lazy, crazy or stupid' written for adults with ADHD with heaps of ideas like that.
