I'm going to a job interview in a few days..it's for a gunsmith position at a local firearm shop. What should I wear? Should I go all out with slacks, button-up shirt, and a tie? Or, slacks and a sweater? Or?

A full business suit would be un"suit"able. You should dress professional and relative to the position. If you were going to an interview for a corporate executive position, then you'd dress in a suit and tie. For a gunsmith position, a clean, neat pair of slacks and a button up shirt with a nice pair of slip-on shoes will work nicely.

Appropriate attire would be slacks, button-up shirt, tie optional. Putting on a jacket would be a little overboard.

There is no standard of attire when going to an interview. It depends on the industry and the position. In business and finance, for example, you better be wearing a suit! However, for a gunsmith position at a local shop, you should be dressed smart, but not looking like you're going to a dinner party.

I'd dress up with the tie and button up shirt. Dress to impress. If they make some sort of comment about you being over-dressed, just say that you understand that you wanted to put your best foot forward in an interview situation.

Good luck.

Tie and jacket -- always! Better to be slightly overdressed for an interview than underdressed.
