SOFT TACO: a warm, soft, flour tortilla filled with seasoned ground beef (or chicken or pork), crisp, shredded lettuce, and real cheddar cheese.

BURRITO: a warm, soft, flour tortilla wrapped around hearty beans (or chicken or beef or pork), real cheddar cheese, tangy red sauce, and diced onions.

Basically, the differences are that beans usually don't make an appearance in tacos but are a very popular and common ingredient in burritos and tacos are a folded tortilla with stuff in it, top and sides open while a burrito is rolled and with no openings or only one end opened.

Well - it might depend on where you are getting your Mexican food. If your getting it from a place like Taco Bell - the only difference may be the size. However, in authentic Mexican food a soft taco is usually on a corn tortilla, with meat and salsa, and maybe cilantro, sometimes there will be sour cream - but that's about it. Besides the fact that burritos are American made, sort of an American version of a taco (but still very different) - burritos are larger, are in flour tortillas and include meat, beans, rice, salsa, sour cream, cheese, sometimes avocado - there is much more in a burrito and they are a lot bigger - tacos are more authentic and as such usually have less ingredients and are a lot smaller - they are very different dishes.

A soft taco is a smaller shell that's not completely wrapped, usually has no beans, usually does have lettuce, and cold cheese.

A burrito is a larger shell that is completely wrapped around the food, usually has beans, usually doesn't have lettuce, and usually has melted cheese. They're more saucy.

I always think of a taco as a colder, more snack type food, and a burrito as a warmer food more like a meal. Burritos can be made very large and filling.

I think the main difference is the tortilla. Burrito has flour and taco typically has corn. A burrito is all wrapped up and a taco is folded. Dont argue, they are both yummy!

Burrito=flour tortilla
Taco=corn tortilla(usually smaller)

What you fill it with is different too, burritos usually have beans and sauce etc., tacos have ground meat,lettuce,tomato,cheese etc.

They both use flour tortillas. But burritos can have beans, burrito/green chile salsas, etc. Also burritos are wrapped completely so they don't fall apart as easily, and are eaten with forks usually. Tacos are not completely wrapped and usually don't contain beans or salsas (unless you put it on).

A soft taco would be a small flour tortilla, with ground beef, lettuce, tomato, cheese, folded in half.
