They did not evolve from humans OR monkeys. They evolved from a species that later evolved into another species which evolved into Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens. Did you read that article?

If you believe that everything in the universe was created by a deity, then it is only the narrow-minded who would believe that any such creature would not have a soul.
Regardless, with only one such creature found, there is no way to determine whether it was a single "accident" of nature or an entire "mutant" strain, or, for that matter, by the hand of G-d (and who are we to know her divine plan?). ;)
It must drive some people nuts to get answers that don't answer the question, eh? But, then again, such is the case with rhetorical questions! ;)

Everything God created on earth he first created in spirit. I can't say whether these Hobbit creatures are animals or people, but I know that heaven wouldn't be complete without my dog, and she definitely has a soul. (Since when do animals not have spirits?)
(Sorry if that was a little disjointed).

I don't think anyone knows. I think there is some kind of genetic disorder. Seems like there is only one fossil found.

I'm sure they evolved just like pygmies and the rest of us... and there are no souls...
