I have windows Vista and can't see my gridlines in Excel--my "show gridlines " box is checked?

I am having trouble seeing outlining borders on the internet too-maybe I have my resolution set wrong or something--I can see the gridlines in Excel but they are real faint--same as this box I am typing in now --I can barely see the outline of the box I'm typing in--any help?
