O...M...G......
Did you do ANY research at all before allowing your dog to have puppies? And now you want us to tell you in a few sentences information that fills a book?
Why was she allowed to have her pups outside? Do you not have a whelping box? At least a quiet, safe, clean place for her?
Did you have the vet check the puppy to see why it died?
Please do some reading on the subject and consult with your vet before you kill the rest of the puppies.

I have successfully introduced puppies into my house with adult dogs of all ages. My first schnauzer was well into the double digits when we added a new puppy. I have also introduced puppies at various times when the older dog was 2 yrs old, 4 years old, and 9 years old. The age of the older dog was never an issue. More important was whether or not the personalities of the two dogs were compatible. If you have the time and inclination to put forth the work required to add a puppy to your family I would not let the age of your existing dog be a factor. If you don't have time to housebreak and train a puppy you should be able to find an already housebroken young adult that would be compatible with your current dog.

Woooow... First step:
Get your dog to the vet, along with her puppies for a check up to ensure she's birthed all puppies, and that the surviving puppies are healthy.
Second:
Get those little buggers inside into the warmth, provide her with nice blankies, (which will need to be changed frequently)
Third step:
Provide all necessary vaccinations and vet checkups for those puppies, and send them to good homes. If you cannot do this, relinquish them to a shelter where they WILL get the proper care, but NOT before they're weaned from Mom.
Fourth and final:
Get your girl spayed, as soon as she's done nursing to prevent this tragedy again.
Fifth:
Enjoy the little guys while you got 'em, puppies are fun, but A LOT OF WORK. Next time, leave the breeding to the professionals.

Tara - like your answer was soooo helpful to the question asker.
Call your vet. Get them all to the vet for a checkover - make sure she doesn't have any retained pups, that the afterbirth is all taken care of. That the pups are in good health (even after a night's exposure). And make the appointment to spay her. You have no business breeding dogs. None - none at all. Shame on you.

Well you've heard from some of the best people in this site.
Get her & the pups inside and feed & water her. Make sure she has a clean dry space for her and the pups. Keep her confined in either a box or a area where she will feel safe and secure. Make sure the pups are cleaned off. If you have to get a warm wash cloth and clean them off and make sure they are dry and warm. Get them all into your vet by tomorrow no later. Mom will tak care of the pups you need to take care of her now!

I'm going to say a prayer for your poor dog.. and her remaining pups.
For you: LISTEN to the advice you're getting. Call the vet. Find a safe place IN your home for your girl to have her puppies. Start reading EVERYTHING you can get your hands on about how to successfully raise pups.
Email me for puppy screening questionnaires and contract examples.

Bring them inside. Newborns are vulnerable and don't need to be outside in the cold. Plus, almost any kind of animal can come along and kill the poor babies. Bring all babies, and mom, inside. Get some kind of large box/basket for her and puppies to lay/nurse in. Keep those babies warm. Make sure she's feeding them herself-if not, you'll need to go buy some puppy milk replacement formula (petstore or vet) and feed them yourself with a dropper or bottle.
Take mom and babies to the vet and have them checked over. Make sure puppies get all of their shots. Do not keep them outside-even as they grow. They need to be with you, and be handled, to be the sound dogs I'm sure you want them to grow up to be.

People like you dont deserve animals that reproduce this animal NEEDS help and you have a duty of care to provide a safe environmant not only for the poor girl that has just had four babies - I see the product of ignorance at work everyday and it is heartbreaking.............. take her to the vets and/ or better still the animal shelter where she will get the care she and her babies require!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why you think hanging around online for advice is better than calling your vet is BAFFLING.
Call your vet for help. And while you're at it, make an appointment to have your dog spayed to ensure you never put her through this traumatic and stressful heartbreaking experience ever again.
