OK, on the Minolta 5D I can't get the LCD screen to display the viewfinder image. It shows the data screens fine and when you take a picture the image pops up on it and looks fine.

Am I doing something wrong...or not doing something.....or is there something wrong with this camera?

Thanks!

OK, for anyone who thinks I'm so stupid that I posted without looking at the owner's manual....STOP ANSWERING.

If I had found the answer there I wouldn't have asked here.

hi...
it's a DSLR camera ...... and the majority of DSLRs wont show live view on the LCD ..... except for some Olympus models(i.e. E-410) canon ((i.e.1D MK III , EOS 40D ,1Ds MK III )),and the newly announced (nikon D300) .
anyway .....the live feature is new to the digital SLR world and a lot of pro-photographers don't like using it rather than the optical viewfinder which give you much much better view ...........
and note that a DSLR with live view means absence or limitation of the auto focus .....so you have to use manual focus .......
but IMHO it's still nice to have this option on a DSLR just in case u have a difficult shooting angle or for macro photography ...... optional feature don't hurt.

anyway the lcd with your camera is for viewing your setting and the previously taken pictures.

regards

My guess is you can't. I know on Canon and Nikon DSLR's the view screen is only used to view a picture after the shot is taken, they don't have a live view mode that you find on point and shoot camera.

So no, you're not doing anything wrong and no there's nothing wrong with your camera. You're just looking for a feature that isn't there.
