My brother sent me an e-mail earlier this evening which mentioned "dealing with unpleasantness" at work....any ideas on how I can cheer him up?

When it comes to family, you're always best to give them your time. Do you guys enjoy anything tacky and fun like bowling, the amusement park, mini / crazy golf... etc? If so then get him to spend some time with you just having a bit of childish fun, nothing will remind him more that life isn't all serious doom and gloom.
You can always check to see what films are on at the cinema and pick something uplifting then go for a wee drink after (can be coffee, beer and a game of pool)
I think if you barge in with some monologue preaching why he shouldn't feel down then he'll most likely just wonder what is up with you. Just say "c'mon lets go do.... get you laughing again, it'll be fun". you'll end up having a brilliant time.
If you're not able to see him then perhaps you could tell him about a good film or speak to someone in his life about you paying for them to go do some of the above mentioned things as a treat from you since you cant do it yourself.
Letting him know you're simply trying should at the very least raise a smile.

Sure, invite him for coffee or a drink after work and be a sounding board. Most of the time people don't want advice, they just want someone to care enough to listen. Sometimes, when using a sounding board, an answer will come to a situation. Good luck.

What a horrid issue! this is gloomy to be attentive to that a good number of folk nevertheless think of like this. Did the parents be attentive to which you're wiccan before she got here to paintings there, or is your faith undemanding know-how at paintings? i'm merely stunned that she may be allowed to paintings with an "evil devil worshiper". If her parents are so brainwashed to tell their baby which you will hex, or poison her I dont understand their letting her be in any touch with you. i for my section experience sorry for the girl in all this. She might desire to be fearful of you! My advice is to easily pass away issues on my own. proceed to act as you always might if she have been every physique else. Be severe-high quality, talk to her as you may the different co-worker. consistent with probability she would be waiting to work out which you're no longer the demon her parents paint you to be. yet once you attempt to talk to her approximately it, i'm specific it is going to reason hardship. Thats a undeniable way for her to declare which you are attempting to "own" her or another nonsense. bright advantages

One of the things that I do to try to help someone in such a situation is contact them on Instant Messenger (IM). I have found that this is better that face to face or telephone. It seems that the longer we exchange messages the freer the person with the problem is to dig deep and come up with the real problem.

Send him this joke to cheer him up
There was a Carrot, Potato and a D/i/c/k, They were all sat round a table one day discusing who had the worst boss,

The Carrot debated he had the boss cause his boss chops him up and feeds him to his horse,

The Potato debates he has the worst boss cause his puts him in a red hot oven for an hour or so and eats him,

Then the D/i/c/k says my boss is far worst than any of yours mine sticks me in a smelly black hole to do a thousand press ups then be sick!!!

If you live in the same town, you could invite him out with some friends of his (you would have to organize it) to go out, whatever your brother is into it. Just go and chill out with him, make him laugh talking about old times or so. You know him better.....his friends though, could help!!!

Tell him you love him, wish him best, and if there is anything else he needs that he should not hesitate to ask.
