It really depends. if your dog is old and sick, no.

but otherwise yes. because it is better to have his teeth cleaned, just in case a few teeth have to be pulled, and you don't want the dog to end up with an infection that can spread, and it can be worse.

my dogs have their teeth cleaned, its worth it to us.

thank you

It depends. If the teeth are in such bad shape that bacteria is getting into the dog's bloodstream, then Yes, it's worth it. The dog may die otherwise.
However, if it's just a bit of tarter, try giving the dog a raw bone once a week for a few weeks. I have a 15 yr old dog and a 12 yr old dog and neither has ever needed their teeth cleaned. I give them hard marrow bones on a regular basis. My vet is amazed at how good their teeth look.

Ideally, your dog wouldn't need his teeth cleaned (and thus, if it isn't needed anesthesia isn't worth it). However, there are diseases associated with poor teeth and gums, so it can then be necessary. However, be sure your vet is experienced and your dog isn't too old. Older dogs can react particularly poorly to even moderate doses of anesthesia (but if your dog is that old, then chances are she'll die of old age before the bad teeth get to her).

I had my dog put under anesthesia to have her teeth cleaned and it made sure the vet could really get in there and clean all her teeth perfectly and actually he had to pull some out...
Check with your vet first and make sure you get your dogs heart tested to make sure he can withstand the anesthesia... because years ago I had a cat that I took to get spayed and he died during surgery because his heart was too weak for the anesthesia. And I didnt know before that you can test your animals to see if they will actually be able to handle it. So we got my dog tested to see if she is healthy enough and strong enough and she was and the teeth cleaning went perfectly.
so please just check with your vet if your dog can withstand the anesthesia(which I am sure he is) and go ahead with it because it really is better for his teeth to get them cleaned perfectly

How old is she?

If she is below 8 then yes do it for sure. If eight to ten think about the risks and benefits. Over ten, I wouldn't do it. Believe it or not heartdisease comes from dirty teeth. That's why you want to have a dog's teeth cleaned before they can develop heart disease.

Absolutely! If your dog's teeth are to the point where the vet has said they need a cleaning, it is worth it. If teeth and gums are neglected, it can lead to serious problems - like heart and kidney disease. Dogs' teeth need to be looked after. If you get them cleaned, you can start brushing your dog's teeth, giving him raw knuckle bones to chew on occasionally and maybe it won't have to be done again.

I consider an excellent form of the above suggestion, yet there is not any point out of scuffling with this next time the canines tooth choose cleansing! in case you take care of your dogs and run your arms alongside their tooth, tongue, and gums on a typical foundation, you will make your vets interest plenty much less annoying! Or better yet, brush your very own canines tooth then! shop plenty and you and your dogs would be happier!

Yes. Dental disease can lead to other health problems.

But whenever possible I try to do it when the dog will be put under anyways for something else. For example, one of my dogs just had a growth removed from her eyelid, I had her teeth done at the same time.

I had my one dog's teeth cleaned and will have another of my dog's teeth cleaned.
The small dogs get bad teeth easily so I want to make sure their teeth are well cared for so they don't lose them prematurely.

Talk to the vet about the risks of doing the procedure and the risks of not doing the procedure. Your vet should be able to help you make the best decision concerning your dog.

Dental disease when severe, can lead to kidney failure, heart failure, and DEATH. A blood infection, called SEPSIS, can occue in some cases.
Not to mention that a dog or cat with chronic dental disease feel bad. How would you like to live with rotting teeth and cavities for years?????
Anesthesia in animals is quite safe these days. I have done this for my dogs and cats and would do it again.
