Excersize and diet arent working for me, i'm about 40 lbs overweight, and i was 30 lbs overweight two months ago. I dont want this to continue into obesity, so i want to ask my mom for lipo. Are there disadvantages to lipo? Are these "fat marks" i've heard about that bad?

You'll find that as you get older, you'll get taller and your metabolism (rate at which your body uses calories) will speed up. I would only be concerned if you were an adult with this problem. Try exercising some, maybe walk around your block once a day or do some calisthenics in your room. Once you begin moving around more, you will lose some weight. Just give yourself time.

You might want to see if you can talk to a counselor. I realize you're not a "nut job", but sometimes talking to a counselor about our anxiety can help -- not only with our emotional health, but our physical health, too. Sometimes when we are over-anxious we eat without really "thinking". I had gall bladder surgery in January and I'd recently gotten back down to my ideal weight after giving birth to my daughter. I was so anxious for my family and my mom was there, too, that I gained all that weight back and then some. I realized I was literally eating all day long unless I was asleep. I stopped doing that, but I haven't been able to lose the weight. I can't exercise due to chronic fatigue and other issues, and I've reduced my food intake. I am on a medication that is notorious for making people gain weight. I'm going to be talking to my doctor to see if we can change it. I am looking toward surgery again next month, this time a hysterectomy. My aunts all tell me that once the surgery is over they'll be able to balance my hormones, which would make my metabolism to return to normal and help me lose weight. I don't know, but I certainly hope it is true.

So, what I'm getting at is this: my anxiety is the reason I gained all that weight. I didn't even realize I was anxious and that that was the reason the weight was coming back. Maybe you're feeling anxious but just need to find a healthy way to deal with it. It's easy to fall into a bad habit, and you may have done that. The best thing you can do is get help from a professional. They know a lot more than someone who is 12 about weight and what is acceptable and what is not. Try that route. I know they won't do surgery like Liposuction just because you're too young and your body is still maturing. If you still have a weight problem in your 20's and no therapy or exercise or diet program has worked, then you might be considered a candidate for the surgery.

Until then, I'm including information about how to eat right. And see if your mom can get you into counseling. I really think it would be beneficial

I'd recommend you to check other options with your doctor. Lipo is so unappropiate for anyone. You're so young, your body hasn't finished its growth process.
There are sort of disadvantages:
From the internet: "Liposuction should not be perceived as a method of weight loss. However, it can remove troublesome areas of fat that do not respond to a sensible diet and exercise routine".
"Disadvantages include the possibility of more pain, swelling, skin burns, and other complications.

Recovery from liposuction can be uncomfortable. Most people are back to work within 72 hours to 10 days depending on the extent of the surgery. Pain medications and special compression garments can provide relief. Some swelling may remain for several months. Your new body contour usually begins to emerge in the first couple of weeks and the final evaluation of your body contour will be made 6 months after your surgery."

Any type of plastic/cosmetic/weight loss surgery at your age is not only way too dangerous but useless as well. Lipo doesn't fix a problem. You can still gain all the weight back.

You are only 12 yrs old and your body is going through many changes. Eat healthy and exercise regularly. See a doctor if you truly feel "overweight" for a diet & fitness plan.

First of all where is your mother? Does she not feed you healthful foods? You are still growing your bones just haven't caught up with your body fat. :) Don't let that be an excuse to eat junk food and sit around all day, just eat right and find something active that you like to do.:) You always have the same amount of fat cells, sometimes those cells get bigger or smaller but they never go away. Lipo sucks them out, so you are left with lumpy skin. If you still gain weight then it is even worse. You know what you want out of life which I hope is to be healthy, you still have time to loose weight the right way and keep it off. Also insurance doesn't cover cosmetic lipo. So I think you are SOL buddy. Good luck on loosing weight the right way. :)

You are way too young Hun. You should wait until your at least 18. Your body is still going through changes, and will continue to change throughout your teenage years. Throughout the next couple of years, your body could start to thin out. Maybe you just haven't found the right diet or exercise plan.
-Try exercising at least 4 times a week, doing hard cardio with a mix of crunches and push ups. be sure to let your body rest some days and regain it's strength.
- Exercise 30Min's- an hr.
If your diet isn't working, try switching diet plans.

Tips to lose weight
- Never starve yourself, or skip a meal.
- If you're going out to eat, only eat half of what is on your plate.
- Some sugar is okay, just a small amount.
- Snacks throughout the day- bananas, dried fruit, low fat snack bars, etc.

Hope this helps a little.
good luck babe!

Sorry sweetie....You are entirely too young to worry your self about lipo...Even if you had parental consent, chances are they wouldn't do the procedure...Lipo is cosmetic, therefore it would need to be done after the fact...Your body is not even close to being done growing. You need to speak with a family doc to plan a meal/menu that will work for your health and body type. In the meantime remain an active lifestyle while doing plenty of exercising...Besides, at your age ypu have plenty of time to make these changes...Just be consisitent and focused!

No, definitely dont get lip. You are only 12 and there are too many things that could go wrong especially at such a young age. 40 pounds overweight isnt good but its not drastic. Your body is still growing and you may find that once you grow more your weight stretches out evenly. Keep on looking at exercise and dieting because they are always good for you. The South Beach diet has worked wonders for a lot of people that I know. Try that and maybe get a membership to a gym. Good Luck.

That's a stupid idea. Exercise and start disciplining yourself with the way you eat and how much of it you eat. Lipo is for people who really can't work off the fat they have gained over the years. Your 12, I think you can work up enough energy to do something like getting into sports.

First of all, no reputable cosmetic surgeon is going to touch you for liposuction at your age. To lose weight, simply use more calories than you consume; that's all you have to do. At twelve years old, all you need is less lying around and more exercise. Get up from in front of the computer and go push the lawnmower around the yard, or mop the floors, or do the laundry, or walk in the neighborhood. By "fat marks", I guess you mean stretch marks, and, yeah, they can be bad. The good thing is at your age, if you take action to get your weight under control, the stretch marks will diminish with time, although they will never disappear.

12 is definitely way too young to get lipo. Maybe your "diet and exercise" isn't really what it should be. Are you eating above 1500 calories a day, and maybe you don't exercise every day? That could be it. If you seriously want to get your weight down, you've gotta buckle down on your exercise. Just walking is a good full body workout. Walk at a slightly quick pace around your neighborhood, twice. Make sure you get lots of protein, because it fills you up and it causes your body to work hard to use it. Be sure to avoid high-sodium foods that could make you retain water.
