Like any food or drug the expiration date is put there to let you know that the product is still good to that date or must be sold by that date, as far as drugs go it is still okay to use though after that date it will start losing it's effectiveness.

it should be fine. nut what does happen when you take expired pills (like say 3 month old-on) the mediciene will not be as effective since it is over the counter i would say you can still take it for at least a month over the expiration date but if it was medicine for mental health care (ritilan, xanax, clonidine, lexapro) i would flush the pills you should take pills that are not expired to make sure that you are receiving the right dosage of your meds this goes for blood pressure and cholesterol too.

Nothing at all happens. I spoke about this to my doctor and he said that manufacturers put an expiration date on medication before they actually expire. Expiration simply means that they lose some of their potency. They don't turn poisonous!!!

nothing bad. it will still work and usually goods are still usable for up to a year after that expiration date.
