I just moved to Ohio from California. I'm planning to move back to CA in 2 to 3 years. I'm only in Ohio for school. Do I need to get a license from Ohio, or can I stick w/ my CA drivers license?

If you are not planning on registering your car in Ohio, there really is no need to.

Your license should match your plates. If you don't plan on changing your car plates then I would just stick with your old license, but if you feel safer driving around with Ohio plates (I would) then I would recommend getting a new license. Also, might want to let your car insurance people know that you are going to school out there just in case anything happens if you haven't already. Good luck with school!

You may want to check the Ohio DMV for information. Some States require you to get their license and plates if you work there. If you are not planning to get a job, I wouldn't worry about it. Also, check your insurance. I lived in Maryland with Pennsylvania plates and registration and my insurance was cheaper because I was in Maryland. This happened while in the military.

If you are considered an Ohio resident for school purposes (claiming in-state tuition) then you need an OH license. Otherwise, don't bother.

As long as its not expired and still valid, there really isn't a reason to change it to Ohio.

Keep your California license.
