Hi. I take wellbutrin and it decreased my appetite at first and it helped me stop having compulsive eating habits and I did lose some weight but it wasn't significant to say "wow!". Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to take to lose weight and can't believe your doctor gave it to you for that sole reason. i think that if you do take it, just for that reason, to lose weight, might not be the smartest thing to do as its main purpose is to be an antidepressant and the consequences of it might be more risky and dangerous overall to your health just because you wanted to lose a few lbs.

Nothing will make you lose weight. Sure you might stop eating a meal or two with it or loose three, four five lbs but only exercise and diet will help you achieve your goal and lose it in a healthy way.

No, eating whatever you want and taking wellbutrin is not good, you can gain weight, or it will just even out.

work out!

I take Wellbutrin 300 mg for 4 years for major depression. I really don't think it's a serious diet pill. I haven't been depressed since I started taking it, but I haven't had a change in appetite. I heard of using it to stop smoking, but it didn't help in that area either.

An excess of calorie intake causes weight gain... so if you eat and eat while you are taking any medication, you're not going to lose a pound.

Wellbutrin didn't make me lose weight, either, but it was not prescribed as a "diet pill" for me, but as an anti-depressant.

if nothing else, you won't be depressed?

Losing weight takes willpower and changing one's diet. And exercies is a key as well.

i took wellbutrin to help me quit smoking. the medicine really didn't agree with me... i had bad ringing in my ears, couldn't sleep, no appetite. and yes, i lost weight, but i didn't need to and i got down to 90 pounds taking that stuff. my stomach was so knotted up i could hardly swallow. i had to have someone around me to talk with me while i ate just so i could relax enough to take some tiny bites and swallow them. it was acutally terrible.
