I feel this a sneaky way of meeting quotas for the month. The police time could be used for better serving the public's safety.

You are talking of spot checks, I presume. If they catch you with no insurance, or no licence, how can it possibly be entrapment? Entrapment would have occurred if they encouraged you to drive illegally, then gave you a ticket.

And, for the 896,000th time, police do not have ticket quotas. Haven't you ever noticed that all the people that still insist there are quotas got tickets, but many police officers post in forums saying if the quotas really existed, they could sit on any major corner in any city and write thousands more tickets than are actually written?

It may be a way to meet quotas -- but it's not entrapment.

Entrapment is when the police cause you to commit a crime that you would not otherwise have committed.

Catching you -- even giving you the opportunity, but without actually talking you into it -- those are not entrapment.

You haven't by any chance been caught by the police at a roadblock? They are not entrapment which is when the police do something which encourages or enables you to commit a crime or offence. Road checks catch people who have no licence or insurance, they catch drunk and drugged drivers and people who are driving unsafe cars. I think that all contributes greatly to protecting public safety.

Police are not allowed to give tickets in order to meet their quota. Its against the law. And no, its not entrapment!

No they are not entrapment. Entrapment would be the police buying you beer, then walking you out to your car, and busting you when you started the engine. Not setting up a check point and having you pull up to it drunk.

Legally it is not entrapment, but it is sneaky. I have heard alot of people say that cops do not have quotas but you will never convince me of that as I have witnessed toward the end of the month the numger of people pulled over is much higher than any other time of the month.

How is entrapment if they set the roadblocks up to catch someone who is going to or has committed a crime? Entrapment means they coarse you into committing the crime and then charge you with that crime.

"Highway checkpoints" are not entrapment. They do serve a great purpose for the general public (which is their job). They remove uninsured, unlicensed and drunk drivers from the highways.

Roadblocks and checkpoints only exist because of the number of stupid people who drive through them while drunk or suspended, etc.

To All of the stupid people in the world.....Thank you for the job security
