My boyfriend had a cat when we met, and then adopted another recently. Theyre both 2 years old. They co-exist fine, not best friends but get along mostly. I LOVE siamese cats and have had 4 different ones growing up. He has said before he would never get a siamese and they are mean and "one person cats." What can I do to convince him to let me get one? Its his house but Ive moved in with him. I want a kitten so it would grow up to get along with the others. Also he thinks its wrong to buy from breeders, and you should adopt, which i think is good too, but its harder to find Siamese kittens at shelters! Any advice?? Thanks =)

Check into a Natural Mink or Natural Point Tonkinese. They have the basic look of the Siamese but the sweet, loveable, playfull nature of a burmese. I have two. One, who was bred from a Siamese and Burmese, is very sweet but a one person cat. The other, bred from a Tonkinese and a Tonkinese is very friendly with most people. Some breeders have adults that are looking for new homes. I haven't used the breeder in the link but the website gives you good information and good pics of the Tonks.

I'm definitley with you on this whole situation!

I fostered a litter of Siamese kittens and I fell in love! I kept 1 of them and he is the sweetest cat I've ever had.

Tell your boyfriend about how nice of temperments Siamese have! Print out articles and show them to him. You could even take him to look at cats with you so that he can see just how sweet they are. Any person who can't just MELT infront of a little kitten [especially a Siamese kitten!] is definitley not a pet lover of any kind! If your boyfriend still doesn't want one, you'll have to decide if you'd rather have a boyfriend or a kitten. You could always bring a kitten home and see if he warms up to it.

Good luck!

There are many cats that "look" Siamese that aren't purebred. If it's the look that you like I'm sure you can find a cat to adopt.

Also consider that if he just got the second cat recently, it may not be fair to the first cat to bring another stranger into its territory. Is the house big enough for 3 cats? Can you fit 4 litter boxes? Will you both share the responsibility of all 3 cats - scoop the boxes, morning feeding, evening feeding, vet bills?

Let him know that the "siamese myth" about them being mean spirited and a one person cat, are totally untrue, and never let him watch Lady and the Tramp again...

I have a 14 year old siamese that gives equal love to me and my boyfriend, and just about anyone else that walks into our house. The vet has commented more than once that he's one of the most mellow and friendly cats he's ever dealt with.

If your cat is mean, it's not the breed, it's the upbringing

I would get a kitten and bring it home. When he sees that little face he will melt. What is he gonna do? Make u take it back? No...
