What did you expect from the son of the most powerful entity around..
Honestly, doesn't Jesus remind you of some "Trustafarian" brat who ambles through life, aimlessly, having no need to actually do anything?
I imagine Jesus was like Al Gore's son, or the Kennedy's, or GW Bush... I'll bet there were numerous incidents that we have never heard about., For instance, the time Jesus drank three bottles of wine (yeah, that's why it was his "blood" - it was coursing through his veins), and then had a nasty accident turning over the donkey cart right in the middle of a busy market...
Come to think of it, why did it take god 3 days to resurrect him. I think it was punishment. God gave him a groovy position in life at the family "company" and all jesus did was alienate folks, breaking laws along the way...
His so-called "friends" were nothing but a bunch clingy losers, who simply used jesus for free wine and party-favor miracles...
In fact, it looks like jesus did not lie to you at all - it was one of his drinkin' buddies - john - who probably was so inept that he never got the story right in the first place...

This will be an unpopular answer, but is accurate. When the Council of Trent convened in 1545 it set about reckoning once and for all what, of all possible writings in thousands of manuscripts, would at last constitute the official Bible. Obviously there were myriad accounts, by myriad writers from a wide range of periods, locations, and languages. Some biblical accounts were not committed to paper for many generations after alleged events had occurred. With all of that, conflicting interpretations and political objectives, along with a rapidly changing social climate, a finished product took thirteen years to achieve. On close study of the book, many have been surprised by shocking contradictions at different points. But one should hardly be surprised by these things, considering the volume of material that had to be waded through and pieced together to produce a fairly coherent whole.
What contradictions exist must have been accepted by the exhausted Council with some resignation. For many more generations after that only the priesthood could read and interpret the scripture. This allowed them great latitude in resolving conflicting passages. From that time until now, such contradictions are said to result from a lack of spiritual understanding or faulty interpretation. Nonetheless, the contradictions exist.

Sometimes it's hard to see when your close to the moment, but I've been though some rough times too and when you come out the other side of them you see them differently. They form you into the person you'll be ten, twenty, and thirty years from now. The trial and fire you face now could well be forming you to excel at some later point. Maybe your experiences will give strength to another in the years to come. Instead of see the lack in your life learn to see the blessings. As corny as this sounds I promise the more blessings you see the more you will receive. I wish I could give you more inspiration... there is a couple good songs about this listen to Rascal Flats ,Broken Road.

Maybe he didn't. Maybe all the people along the way that have revised that book did. Just a thought but here is the way I see it. Jesus is my brother and he wants me to understand that in loving others we learn to love ourselves and in this we find strenght and power. First you must understand his meaning of love. Jesus had a great understanding of the human mind and the how and why of things we do. Re-read his words, not the whole bible, just his teachings and think about his actions, not his words. And in that you will understand what was really meant. And don't think I am a religious person, I don't attend.

Sometimes the answer to our "wish-list" is "no" for our own good.
Think of it like a good parent. My child may ask me for nothing but candy to eat and knives to play with, but as a good parent, I recognize those things would be bad for her so I say no. She doesn't always understand why I say no, but someday when she is grown, she will get it.
God is the same way with his children. Even when we can't see why He says "no," we have to trust that it is for our own good. God isn't a magic genie who just answers our wishes. His goal is to prepare us for an eternity with Him and therefore he has to help us become like Christ. That means He must say "no" to some of the things we think we need so that He can give us what He knows will be better for us in the long run.
Trust in Him. He created you, he will do what is best for you.

Jesus didn't lie! It doesn't always answer in your time frame. He also sometimes says' NO! You just have to listen.
There was a little brown eyed girl and her mother always told her that Jesus would always answer her prayers. She went to bed every night and prayed to Jesus to give her blue eyes.
The next morning she would always jump out of bed and run to the mirror to see her blue eyes. They were always brown though. Then one morning she ran to the mirror to see if she had blue eyes and when she looked and saw brown she also head God say NO!
I prayed for over 15 years for Jesus to let me quit smoking that didn't happen. Until one morning I finally listened.
So friend don't be discouraged and don't think Jesus lies you just have to listen and WAIT (sometimes) for the answer.

He did not lie, maybe you just misunderstood. He said "remain," whereas you said you "tried it for a while." To remain in him means to have faith and obey. Salvation is a life long relationship and commitment, not just something you try for a while to see how it works. You have to grow, and you cannot grow if you do not become rooted and grounded. That requires steadfastness, faith and love.

So many things that are in the Bible have been proven to be false or at least contradictory. In the book of Mathew Jesus says he would return before they had tasted death, this was over two thousand years ago, so either he lied about that or he was misquoted making the Bible fallible or he never existed.

It is just an addition to the appeal of christianity. It's the pitch that the salesmen for christ gave to people to bring them to the church. "If you pray to god you'll get anything you ask for..... and a free toaster if you act now!" ..... and when the people realized their prayers weren't being answered they came up with this whole "god answers with yes, no or wait" to delay the skepticism. So if people didn't get what they wanted that either meant god said no or god said wait.
I mean damn, what sounds better to a person who's unsure about if they should join a religion? "Join us and god will give you anything you ask for and you'll spend your afterlife in heaven..... where the streets are made of gold, you'll always be happy, and everyone gets free beers after 5pm" or "You're going to hell where satan will torture you in the most painful ways.... ways that you could never possibly imagine. You'll burn in fire and feel the the sting of satan's sword-like phallus as he sodomizes you while his demons nail you down to the ground through all of your limbs"
heaven & getting anything you ask for sounds pretty good after that, doesn't it? It's an age old sales tactic.... make the other option look so terrible that no one in their right mind would ever choose it.

Sometimes he doesn't just give it you, what you need to realize is that either 1. Your not not meant to have it or 2. He gave you the tools to get it yourself and you didnt use them, accept them whatever. We make our own way and God helps us along the way. Gods not going to give you something that strengthens your faith in earthly things or your ego or thats not going to help you get to heaven. If you truly believe in his word than you would know that ultimately your supposed to give up what you want and want what he wants for you. Hes not not a magic genie, hes your creator.

God doesn't give a definite answer on WHEN He will give you whatever you desire. By the way you sound in this question, you don't seem like you trust His Word very much. Maybe that was the problem. You have to show, as well as, believe in Him.
