All of a sudden I am experiencing a very serious depression. I have had problems with anxiety and panic attacks but now I have this terrible feeling that nothing is good, nothing is ok, everything is horrible, there is nowhere I can go, nothing I can do - to make it better. There isn't really anything going on in my life that should cause this. I missed 2 days of work and when my boss came in my office and asked me what was going on I just bawled and bawled. How embarrassing! This has GOT to stop, and fast. How do I get out of this? My husband is trying to be supportive but he doesn't understand that there is nothing he can do for me. What am I missing?? If there is nothing I can think of that would make me happy, no movie I can watch, song I can listen to, nothing - how do I make it through? Some facts: I am 32, happily married, no children, on birth control and I have been taking Doxepin for a few months for chronic neck/shoulder pain and in a low to moderate stress job.

Is it possible your Doxepin or birth control have depression as a side effect? perhaps the combination of the 2 is causing your distress. This is something you really want to talk to your doctor about, as they may be able to quickly solve your problem with a slight change in perscription.

If medication isn't the source of your problem, perhaps it is time to consider seeing a therapist. One should be able to help you. Even if it is just by giving you an anti-depressant.

In any case, I wish you luck and hope you feel happy soon :-)

Hi. If you haven't already, make sure both your doctors know that you're taking the other medications. I used to take birth control and it was wicked on the hormones. Perhaps another prescription can help. For the chronic pain, perhaps there's another way to treat it without so much medicine. I hope this helps.

May i ask how strong your religion is? That, i believe, is a very vital support for a guided life.

On the other hand, look on the bright side! why so depressed?! thank GOD you're alive! You have a husband to love you so you could spend all your life with someone you truly love.

Focus on your goals, needs, achievements and aim for every single of them! be inspired, be sociable! Be anything you wanna be! travel, go to places you never imagined going to! go bungee-jumping, skydiving, the world's wildest roller coasters!

As you grow older, you'll remember all those times you spent while you're alive, and you'll eventually say: 'I know i lived my life to the fullest, and I'm satisfied"

Hi... anxiety and depression do go hand-in-hand... they are both illnesses and you can't help it, hon.

A person who suffers from depression, can't just "snap out of it" at will.

Please talk with your doctor. If you don't have a therapist, please consider one.

You can also do a yahoo search on DEPRESSION SELF-HELP.

Perhaps your doctor can help you with medications, also. If one doesn't work after several weeks, you might need to have it upped or change meds all together. sometimes it takes a bit to figure out what will work for each individual.

i hope things improve soon. thinking of you in the meantime!

First, you have to understand how you got into it. Think about calling a therapist to have a few talk sessions. Sounds like on the surface everything is okay, but these feelings have to have come from somwhere that you don't yet see or that you don't want to admit to.

You may be experiencing a side effect of the drug, especially if being taken along with other meds (BC pills, diet pills, etc.) Go to a pharmacist and your doctor and tell them everything you are taking.
