Quality. The others are very important but quality defines the type of restaurant or company period you are working with. A fast server who's very nice and serves me the most disgusting food is pointless. However, a rude server who takes forever to give me the best meal of my life is another story.

I think you should choose the courteous prompt service OF a quality product. If you're applying to be a server then the emphasis should be on the courteous, prompt service, but it's also up to the server to make sure the product looks good when it reaches the table, so you are also concerned about delivering a quality product. If you are applying to be a cook you will want to emphasize the quality product, but you also want the product to reach the guest before it gets cold, so you are also concerned about courteous, prompt service. Just remember that the customer should leave the establishment happy so that they come back and tell other people how good the service and food was.

Definitely the quality of the food is paramount, although quality of service can be important. However, if service is poor, I can choose to leave less as a tip and have some savings on my experience, but nothing really makes up for poor quality food. One of our favorite restaurants is a sushi bar where the service is terrible and the wait times are often long (but the food is fresh, and is served at appropriate temperatures). I've actually had a waitress at this restaurant tell me, "Ew, I can't see how people bear to eat raw fish," when I placed my order! But the food is absolutely divine, so I keep going back. When we get a really bum waitress, we either just entirely deduct the tip, or leave the tip at the bar specifically for the sushi chef.

This is a You cant one without the other-topic. You can have really great food, but if the service is bad or rude,it can ruin the best of meals. I've only been to one restaurant where the service was awful and the courtesy was non-existant,but the steaks were absolutely out of this world. This was an exception definitely not the rule. I've had lots of good meals ruined by rude waiters. Sorry-but I just cant chose one.

To have quality product, they need to be courteous and prompt service. The food would be of not very high quality if the waiter/ress did not bring it out while it was still hot/fresh. There is no quality without those things involved.

Quality should be an overall rating. I consider all of the above as quality. It is a good quality restaurant if they ar prompt, courteous and their food is of good quality.

the quality of product (in this case, food) would be my most important consideration since i go to a specific restaurant because i like the food it serves. however, i consider almost as important the crew's attitude and speed of service, specially if I'm dining in expensive restaurants, where one actually pays for a superb service, not just for food.

Prompt service......it completely ruins my dining experience when I need something like a drink refill yet my server is no where to be found....or when the food takes forever to come, etc. It doesn't matter how good the food is, if the service sucks, everything else does, too.

Quality product. I can put up with inattentive service if I know I'm going to have an orgasmic dining experience. As long as my food arrives while it's still hot, I'll be a happy camper!

Both are extremely important. Poor service can ruin a great meal (or even a decent one), while great service can't make up for a sub-par meal.
