well for starters every morning make it your business to get up, take a shower and get dressed.. go get the morning paper. it really helps even if its just a walk around the block.

join a group in a community center.. you can meet other people in the community as well as get out.

try it.. good luck and god bless.

Set the alarm and when it rings, get up,take a shower, get dressed and go to the store,or for a walk,or to the library,or to a movie,or the mall and walk or sit watching people. Sit in the food court, and have a soda,or coffee and people watch, call a friend and go together, join a club like a card club or a hobby club, stay away from the things that are solitary things like the computer. I always said I could live in the house and never go out, but I do and I always feel better. Good Luck.

Take a piece of paper and jot down all the things you love to do. For instance:

Play sports, watch movies, going for walk in the parks, working full time, making new friends, and going to social gatherings, and much more!

These are just a few things I've listed. Now try writing more by yourself. Add more to my list and see the millions of things you'd love to do.

So why wait then? You're free in your house. Just go out there and start exploring all your hobbies you've listed. Make new friends and always take it one day at a time.

Spend 3 hours outside the first day, 4 hours the next day, then 5..6..7..you'll see the difference outside than inside! :)

Remember, nobody can really drag you on your feet except yourself :)

Hope this helps..

I know the feeling. I often do the same, and feel better most times when I do get myself out of the apartment. You have to change the way you talk to yourself, go against the feeling in your body to just want to stay put. You say it yourself in your message 'make yourself get out'. Sometimes we have to force ourselves for our own good.

Ruts and the feeling to just want to shut out the world and stay home come from a source of unhappiness somewhere inside. Have to try to figure out what that is and make changes in mind and body and surroundings to get rid of the dragged down feeling. Again, a lot of it is internal dialogue - have to find someway to make it exciting and something you want to do, perhaps by finding some special places when you go out that you want to go back to again or even something or somplace new.

While I think it's important and good to get out of the house, I also realize that I am something of a solitary person and don't mind a lot of alone time in my own place. Maybe you are the same way. It's still important though just for one's sanity to get out sometimes. Think of it as doing your health good to do it.

Yes its hard to take that step out but like you said you feel better when you do it. You have answered your own question in part, now reward yourself each time you do it :) You have the power, there are also support groups for people who have the same issues. You are not alone. All the best to you.

If you feel like you have to make yourself get out of the house, then give yourself jobs to do: grocery shopping, or getting the mail (if you're mailbox isn't on your house). that is if you feel that you wouldn't go out just for the joy of it. or make it a point to go over to a friends house instead of them coming to you. If you drive, you can always go for a nice drive or walk. i'm not sure where you live but there's always things to go out and do. find some simple things that you just enjoy, that'll get you started. like go out for coffee or ice cream. don't keep any in the house, that way you have to leave the house and go out.

Open your front door and step outside, dead easy. LOL
Only kiddin'. Take up a hobby and hopefully that will give you the incentive to get up and go. Good Luck.

Its a beautiful day outside today....at least here in Illinois. Go outside and take a walk. Winter will be here soon and you will be stuck in doors.
You should see a counselor for symptoms of depression.

Same thing happens to me. I started living in my car for a while (voluntarily) and I was more likely to wake up early and get involved in something. (I showered at the gym)

This was in good weather of course.

In bad weather, simply set your alarm clock early, and commit to waking up, showering, and get going.

Helps if you jogg (treadmill or outside) early in the morning. Gets your blood pumping, gives you energy, and wakes you up, and keeps you up.

(Not to mention the weight loss. Kill to birds with one stone)
