I am beginning to feel this way.
Romans 10:9 says, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

It seems that too much attention is put on issues like homosexuality and whether women should be allowed to be ministers. Salvation is not dependent on what denomination you belong too. I think Christians the world over need to focus on what brings us together not what divides us. Anyone agree?

I completely agree with you. Some churches even tell you that you're going to hell if you (as a woman) wear pants, makeup, jewelry, etc.... I think ppl nowadays just have to feel like THEY'RE right... and I also think that a lot of people pick & choose things out of the Bible to believe or harp on to suit their own little sordid agendas. It's always gonna be this way, and sadly, I'd bet that this is what turns a lot of people away from Christ.

You said...Romans 10:9 says, "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

then in ...1 Corinthians 13:2
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (in Context) 1 Corinthians 13

In the first Passage Paul is saying that you only have to believe in Jesus to be saved. In the second passage, he says that we need Charity to be saved...so which is it?
Is this an insignificant issue?
Do Christians argue over these passages?
Can you please mail me your answer?

The biggest break in Christianity was based on a single word "filioque" and split the East from the West. Issues like homosexuality are arguably bigger deals and may have more impact. In fact, of course, all religious peoples of all faiths are in the same business and have more in common than they realise. It is a pity they squabble so about things that are not really important. Kindness and goodness are more important than sexual preference.

Yes I agree. Today, more than any other time in the past, it is important for all Christians, to show a united purpose to the World.
Without naming specific sects, I think most people are aware
of the forces that are trying to destroy the Christian beliefs and way of life.

I think one of the main problems that underlies even that one, is that the different groups do not really know the differences among each other. A big problem seems to be that when one group does not loudly condemn something like homosexuality or abortion or female priests, all the other groups see that as support of those things. If you can't tell which division of Christianity someone is in without them coming out and telling you, or by the name of their church, what does it matter?

religious books are canonizations of countless texts, arranged by religious scholars, courts, or different government over the years. For Jews, the order is that this: First the Torah (T in Tanakh) grow to be assembled from a chain of historic scriptures. Then, the prophets (Neviim is N in Tanakh) grow to be assembled from countless sources (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, etc.). finally, a compendium of scholarly prognosis grow to be printed. (Ketuvim, ok in Tanakh, means writing in Hebrew) The order of the books logically follows the historic previous of the Jewish human beings and the evolution of their religious concept. Christianity emerged as a faith after the Torah & Neviim have been printed. Christian scholars coated those of their Bibles, and extra the Gospels (New testomony). In all circumstances, the order and interpretation of the text fabric is beneficial to assist the conventional message of the religion. Even as we communicate, minor transformations to those information are user-friendly. whether, any substitute oftentimes finally ends up in a schism in the religious flow, ensuing in a sparkling sect.

I agree . In fact llTimothy says something about not focusing on the small stuff and instead focusing on the bigger picture .

Here's one that's weird for me to understand . . .. . . .I grew-up Catholic , went to Catholic Schools , lived in a neighborhood that was more than 90% Catholic , surrounded by Catholics all the time . . . . YET , NEVER once was ever taught or told that other Christian religions were wrong or less than Catholics . Never .
BUT , about 7 years ago I heard some Baptists saying derogatory things about Catholics in my bible-study meeting . Then more . I asked why and they were ashamed but admitted that they had always been taught that . They thought Catholics worshipped idols . We don't . Their 'learned' views of Catholicism weren't legitimate at all . Misinformation .
They were also surprised to learn that Catholics are not taught to discredit the Baptist faith or any other protestant faith .

You're right . Let's focus on the commonalities !!

the division i find is hardly insignificant ... salvation.

catholic & protestants have twisted salvation.
they base their salvation on different verses in the epistles.

these epistles mostly from paul were written to ALREADY BORN AGAIN believers .... they don't tell you HOW to be saved. the letters paul wrote to the churches tell you HOW to live once you are saved.

that is a HUGE difference & will affect 1000s of people who "think" they're saved, but they are not.

the only place you can find HOW to be saved is in the history book of the church .... the acts of the apostles. peter explained how to be saved in acts 2:38, then this was continually portrayed in chapters 2, 8, 10, 19.

Jesus said 3 times in john 3 we must be born again if we are to enter into His Kingdom.
Jesus said emphatically in vs 5, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water AND of the Spirit, he CANNOT enter into the kingdom of God."

Jesus knew that people understood how to be born of water ... baptism. however, they didn't understand about how to be born of the Spirit. Jesus explained it to nicodemus ... comparing receiving His Spirit to the wind. (john 3).

still today, people don't understand the new birth process.
so many believers say they believe the bible, but say that the new birth described in scripture is cultish.
these are unsaved believers as they are not born again according to scripture.
it saddens me beyond belief.

This is a way for Satan to divide God's people. Simply one of his tactics. I have known of people being divided over something as insignificant as what songs were sang at church.

here here sister!!!! i'm so glad you feel this way too :) The issues of homosexuals, women as ministers, etc only distracts us from our quest to spread God's love. I think spreading love and generosity is FAR more important than nitpicking every word.
