I got a cut on my arm, and used a disinfectant right away...well, now, it's all swollen and raw, with white edges. What do you think I should do?

BTW, It came in a white bottle, name brand "Industrial". Thanks!

The dentist wont necessarily pull the tooth, but you could have an abscess and that must be treated with antibiotics first, then drained and the tooth can then be drilled out, cleaned and the nerves beneath the tooth deadened permanently. The hollow tooth can then be filled and capped. The gap in your teeth that has closed due to the wisdom tooth growth would not open up again if your wisdom tooth were removed. This is because your teeth have moved forward in the gum and cannot move back again. The wisdom tooth acted like a brace. Whatever you do, you need to get to a dentist quickly with that abscess. Your whole jaw could become infected and you could get blood poisoning if you don't get it sorted quickly.

well thats the problem, its industrial, it was made for floors and such its too heavy for hygenic use if its not diluted.

there are a few possible explanations for the inflamations.

1) The Disinfectant contains a bleaching agent like hypochlorite (chlorox).

2)The disinfectant is too concentrated for wounds and cuts and the "salts" probably crystalized and aggraveted the wound. Make sure you wash the wound with running cold water for several minutes.

3) you're allergic to an ingredient in the disinfectant.

4) You're infected.

its probably the second explanation, the stuff crystalized around the wound and it left behind a white salt which is hurting you like hell, wash it with cold water now.

Industrial strength disinfectant is for use on equipment and heavy duty cleaning... look on the bottle again and it may tell you to avoid contact with skin... even disinfectants that are sold for use on wounds are recommended to be diluted prior to use... your reaction to the stuff you used is likely to be quite acute with no permanent or lasting adverse effects... rinse it thoroughly under running water for about 5 minutes and avoid using industrial products in future

And don't use any more as some people are suggesting... that'll aggravate it even more... any germs that were there would have been well destroyed after your first application

I do hope you are joking!

There is a big difference between a disinfectant that one uses to clean bathroom floors and one that should be used on a cut.

If you are serious, you need to seek medical attention *immediately*! You might even consider calling the poison control center as getting an industrial cleaner directly into your bloodstream through an open wound can be potentially life threatening.

disinfectant is not for wounds. you need neosporin. you have made it worse by using a product for cleaning and sanitizing .

I go to the doctor and have them check it out especially if you have a fever..b/c that could be a sign of an even worse infection! Good luck! : )
