Actually, $75 per song is a bargain. Legally, the minimum fine is $750 per song. And so far the RIAA has filed lawsuits against around 50,000 people for illegally downloading and sharing music. This has been going on for several years, and there's no sign of them stopping.

The nerve of them, pressing charges against criminals.

Just correcting one point in your statement. The RIAA charges between $750 - $30,000 per song, not $75.

Using Limewire is perfectly legal as long as you are only transferring content which you own the rights to.

not for using limewire, but for stealing music that is copywritten. Limewire is legal to use, but if you use it to download illegal music, then $75 a song is cheaper than going to jail.
