The Bible IS inerrant. The error comes in with improper interpretation of the Bible.
The bible was written over 1800 years ago and the Catholic Church contains the teachings of all of the Church Fathers living at the time.

Actually, that is not a true statement. Most Protestant churches translate their Bibles from original Greek and Hebrew texts and do not use the Catholic Bible at all. And the Catholic church did NOT give us the Holy Mother. God did. And the Catholic church did NOT give us the Word of God. GOD did. The Church is NOT God. I don't mean to take away any legitimacy from Catholicism. It's as valid a religion as any. In any case, it's 2007, not 1557. You're not going to win any converts here.

1) Although it may be true that the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) is responsible for the bible, this is quite a claim to make in the face of history. For one thing, the first ecumenical council to derive a "canon" of scripture was the council (or synod) of Hippo. This can reasonably be considered to be a predecessor of the Eastern Orthodox and African Orthodox churches. It was not until the council of Chalcedon (451) that the bishop of Rome was actually given (honorary) authority over the entire church, and in 1054 the Great Schism caused all the "Eastern" dioceses to refute (growing) papal authority. Thus, though the RCC should be given credit for assembling the first bible (the Vulgate), the canon of scripture really pre-dates the RCC as we know it today and can be (at least) equally credited to the Eastern and African Orthodox churches. In other words, if the RCC had been wiped out by Germanic tribes, the bible canon would have remained intact. In addition, some of our most ancient source manuscripts were preserved by this Eastern tradition, rather than the Western.
2) Certainly, the RCC did *not* give us the Holy Mother. They didn't even exist when she was alive (Peter was never called pope, even assuming that he became bishop of Rome prior to the death of Mary)! You can't *seriously* expect anyone to agree with *that*!

It was Jewish believers, and later christian believers who gave us the texts of the Old Testament (Tanach) and New Testament. At work in their lives and wathcing over their efforts was the Holy Spirit. Church hierarchies may have had some organising part, but basically it was, for the New Testament, the Church, ie all believers. Some of these were Syrians, Some Greek, Some Jewish, some Egyptian, Some Ethiopian, Some Armenian, Some Romans and other racial groups. The Church is the body of believers not hierarchies !

The Catholic Church was the first Christian church, but they didn't write the Bible. There are numerous 'authors' of the Bible that dictated what God told them to write. Just like He gave the Holy Mother... the Catholic Church is the one that put her on the pedistol. Other Church's broke off of the Catholic one b/c it became corrupt (as anything ran by man will). One has to study the Word on their own to make sure that they aren't being fed lies from their pastor/priest.

The Bible was written by the Jews inspired by God. The Catholic church had nothing to do with it.
