My Son is 3 and a half and already 34", he towers his peers in school. He is obviously not bothered by it but I do worry how he will find it as he gets older. My husband was 6" 1 at the age of 11!!

My son is 43" and is 3 and a half. He towers his peers (most come up to his shoulder in school!) He has always been quiet tall but just seems to be growing all the time. He doesn't seem bothered which is the main thing but people do seem very shocked when I tell him how old he is.
I am 5" 6 and my husband is 6"4 (he was 6"1 when he was 11).

Oh yes! My 2 year old is 3 ft 1inch!! He towers over the other kids and looks like a 3 year old! At the two year appt. the pediatrician can usually estimate their adult height...which my ped estimated my son at around 6'3". It makes sense though b/c my husband and my brother are both tall(over 6')and my brother-in-law is 6'7"!!! I hope my son isn't that tall....life is a bit more difficult when you're that tall!

He's tall now an will be tall later, but not a giant so don't worry. Kids all grow differently. He may grow fast than stop around say 6" or so 6". My sister was a giant growing up then she suddenly slow down to her final height of 5"5.. My fiend a man, was 5"0 going into 9th grade and when he was in 12th grade he was 6"1. The other kids will catch up and it won't be a big deal.

How tall are you Natalie? That will help your answer.

Thanks Natalie. A geneticist at the University of Chicago once told me that height is a maternal trait. I'm 5'11" and my ex-wife is 5'9". I have a daughter and a son. When my daughter was 12, she was already 5'10" and the tallest in her class by quite a margin (this would have been the late 70s, she's 38 now). She's now 6' tall. My son on the other hand was 5'4" at 14, but by the time he was 16, he was 6'4".

Our son is 3 1/4 and stands at 3 ft 5 in and he is not the tallest 3 year old in his preschool class!!! All children grow and develop at different rates. I wouldn't worry about it just yet!

My daughter is just 3 and is 3 feet tall....people mistake her for a four year old....my husband us only 5.7 and Im 5 5....but my dad was 6.4.....maybe it skipped a generation. 3 4 is tall...but tall kids are not that unusual these days..you see lots of teens of over 6 feet.
